Hey, chibree. I haven't been on all day. Wow, what a horrible experience for you and zoey. Im glad everything is all right though. Just to ask a quick question. Did they use intraveinous anesthetic or gas? The reason I am asking is because the gas is a lot easier on them than being on an iv anesthetic. Just wanted to let you know for when or if you get her spayed. Wow what cute pups. CONGRATS. You should be very proud of yourself and Zoey. Its great to hear that she is being a good mom. Don't worry she will be back to her old self before you know it. They have a way of bouncing back really quick. Again CONGRATS on the new babies and after this ordeal i think you should keep 'em all :D

Oh my when yous aid she had passed I was about to cry. I am so happy they are all okay. They are adorable. You have done a good job and I admit I am happy she is getting spayed. I don't know if I could handle hearing that she almost dies again.

I havent been home all weekend and checked this thread as soon as I got back and nothing had been posted. I was worried just for that reason.

Those are some big puppers for such a small ma ma. Awful cute though:)
Glad all is ok so far! Sorry you had to go through such a horrible event.

Well things did not go as well as planned. Zoey started labor at 3am Sunday morning. She was able to pass her water bag but then from there on nothing happened. Paged my vet and he called me back and stated we needed to come in and he'd induce labor and if that didn't work he'd have to do a section. We ended up taking her in and the injections didn't work and he had to do the section and sent us home to wait.

Well, we got a call around 10am. Not good news. Zoey had went into cardiac arrest and her heart stopped on the table. Basicaly she had past away. (Its still so hard writing this!)

He acted quick and was able to revive her, she was gone maybe 3 minutes but had also lost a good amount of blood. To make a horrible story short, we were able to go get her tonight and all her pups. They are all under observation. Everyone goes back to see him tomorrow (Monday)
I am so glad your bitch survived.

Whelping can be very dangerous, especially for small girls like Chis.

THIS is why we discourage those from breeding their pets.

I am glad she made it through the surgery, and hope all goes well with the bringing up of the babies.

Once the puppies are a few weeks old, if you would like help with a contract that requires spay/neuter of the puppies, let me know. I have several good ones I can pass on to you.

With 4 puppies you need to keep a close eye on her for eclampsia. Talk to your vet about what to look for, or do a web search. Eclampsia in small bitches can also be deadly...

Very scary! I am glad she survived that, my heart dropped when I read about Zoey. It's too bad they didn't just spay her while she was already under so you don't have to go through it again. I would get another opinion from another vet if once she is strong again to go through the spaying. How many pups are you keeping? I hope you never ever breed a bitch again, it is way to risky and shouldn't be taken lightly. Good luck and keep ud updated!

Aw, she looks so exhausted in that picture. I'm glad to hear that she's now ok, it must have been a frightening experience for you. Get your rest as well as Zoey's and take good care of yourself.

I know you were talking to Chibree, but could you maybe pass one onto me too? I've told all the people interesting in the pups that I will require a spay/neuter, I just want to make it "offical". Dont want the samething happening again.

I sure will.

I am so busy now, we have started a huge renovation project and I have been working 10 and 12 hours a day on it, but when I get time, maybe this evening, I'll send it to you.

I'm glad Zoe and the pups are finally getting to relax and be momma and babies. No more drama, no more passing...just happy, healthy (?) puppies!
Congrats Zoe.

OMG Chi!!

That is VERY VERY scary!

So glad I have a male lmao!!

wow.. As I was reading, I found I couldn't read quick enough to keep up with the adrenaline! lol

SOO glad that she made it out alright! My heart sunk when I saw that the vet lost her at first!

On the upside, she did give birth to 4..(HUGE) beautiful babies :)
Her little belly looks so stretched out now eh?
Love the little smiley face on her vetwrap :) Very cute.

Will you be keeping any of the pups at all??

Make sure dewclaws get removed!!

Zoey is recuping, she is still pretty slow and punky. The little cream female wasn't very strong so I'm bottle feed ing every two hours. She seems to be improvng so far. I have my fingers crossed. The other pups a feeding well and getting chunky.

Just been very very busy and wanted to check in and see what had been going on. Thank you to everyone who;s posted and all your encouraging words!!! They all mean sooo much!!! I appreciate everyones help and concern so much. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!
