I was reading an article about getting in shape with your pooch. I though the article was outstanding until it recommended giving dogs air popped popcorn as a snack. I had to read it twice to make sure it didn't mean that to be a snack for people.

Anyway . . . I'm wondering if popcorn is a healthy snack for a dog?

My dogs like it- if we are eating it , I toss some to them. My only concern is popcorn has a way of getting wedged in your teeth between your gums - not a great thing for someone who doesn't brush their teeth.

My bro is a pig when he eats popcorn, and we always let Oakley eat the pieces off the floor...

he has days where he really likes it, and days when he doesnt, but it doesnt seem like hes had any issues from it.

I can imagine large quantites would be good though...

Wrigley likes popcorn. They even make Doggy Popcorn--I bought some at Big Lots--it comes in beef, chicken, and some other flavors (you pop it in the microwave and it is just for dogs)

Umi LOVES popcorn -- my dad eats it almost every day and always shares with the doggies. :) Flinx likes it too, though he's funny and has to chew each piece ever so carefully, lol (he's a huge dog!). I wouldn't give it to a tiny dog though, I've heard they could choke on it.

Lucy LOVES popcorn.

One of my friends' mom said, "Feeding popcorn to a dog is worse than giving them chocolate!" I didn't know if that comment was true or not, but I know Lucy never died from popcorn. haha.. soo?? I guess popcorn is okay, according to the previous posts.

I have always worried about popcorn, and only feed the fluffy part. I too have been worried about the sharp kernnel parts getting stuck in their teeth or hurting their intestines.

I think like with anything, moderation is the best.
