got stung by a hornet.the kind that live in the ground..the ones that hurt like the devil right on her teat. I gave her benedryl right off, but she is licking the site over and over again. A lousy way to start the day. :(

mud daubers aren't so bad..paper wasps are worse, but those ground hornets are in a class all by themselves..it is the sting that keeps on giving..AAron got nailed by them mowing the yard last year..he had three or four stings before he managed to get away from them. I had a friend that was helping me weed eat and i almost had to take him to the er he reacted so badly.

There's a Benadryl spray you can apply right to the sting that really helps. I've been mosquito bitten in a similar spot, but never stung! Don't even wanna contemplate THAT!

She says thank you thank you for all your love..thump thump thump it made her feel better to know you all care about a good old gurl like her.

I hope the sting is gone by now, poor Mary! I was going in my front door one day and a stupid wasp was building a papery nest up in the corner of the frame (that I obviously wasn't aware of). The stupid little demon dive-bombed me and smacked off my forehead leaving a sting! It STUNG!!! Poor Mary... but it wears off fairly soon...

Gee, you kinda made it sound that you were an oldster! You are in the prime of your life, you lucky lady!

I was thinking yellow jackets when you said they live in the ground. We had them all over heck's half acre up in New York, but I was just a kid, and never thought about where they lived. My sister had a run in with them last year mowing the grass. I have heard that if you can find their burrow, and pour some gasoline down it, it will kill them. I DO NOT THINK you are supposed to LIGHT the gasoline, rofl. :p

And yeah, woman can have senior moments at about any age. I think it is mainly a problem with woman who have a man or kids in their lives, rofl. That is not said to insult anyone on this board. It is a JOKE. Also has a bit of truth to it!!

They can also nest in rotten wood. When I was very little, I was out in the woods with some neighbor friends and we tore an old log in two (it was rotten)... well, in the meantime, we tore the bee nest in two... They had nested into that rotten log. I had 50+ stings and one of my friends had over 100 and had to be taken to the hospital!

I did Blue..she says a thump a thump to you too! I have been driving Gg's truck while my car is in the shop. The paper wasps had built in the back where the truck bed is covered..whatever you call that thing...anyway we sprayed them so i could use the back and everything was fine until i went back to her house..guess they thought their home had returned..even a week later! Today i was taking a bassinet over to AAron opened that back and had to make a run for it..they must have memories like elephants! Even when i got to Aaron's to unload dropped the tailgate out came another one and he/she was buzzing mad.
Elin that is just horrible!! When i was pg with Mypy we had the fridge on the back mudporch and i opened the freezer when a bumblebee zapped me right in the middle of the forehead..followed by the whole swarm. I too had about that many stings. Swelled up like the elephant man. So sorry you had that happen to you and your friend..that must have been excrutiating.
manchester my prime was about 10 years ago..i lived hard and worked physical.ddidn't eat or sleep enuff the whole time i raised my kids..plus i took care of old boss and the kennels by myself...i shot this body a long time ago..even tho i am 43 i am so unbelievable tired..so i figure i lived 2 years for the average person's one and the year i was married to the devil himself had to be about 10 years long..sigh. I wish i was in my prime!
