I got Bimmer from a wonderful lady who took him and his three siblings in when some idiot dumped him on her farm.

Shiva and Kharma are from Fila breeders.

I got all three of Dobermans from a rescue and that is the way I love it because they let me know everyday that they love me and thank me for saving their lives
Our other 16 are all either bred by us or bought from breeders

Breeder. Not sure if I would ever do that again. I had a bad experience.

We got our JRT from someone that was known as a "reputable breeder" and she came home at 8 weeks covered in fleas, and with a small bag of Purina Hi-Pro dog food (and recommended to stay on this food... as they feed this to all their dogs for life) and Lucy at 8 weeks had never been outside of the large barn that she was born in. (My hubby purchased Lucy as a surprise for me... two weeks after we had to put our 15 yr. old cocker/beagle mix to sleep due to heart failure) and she has been a non-stop surprise ever since! :D

Our Rat Terrier we adopted from a local rescue organization "All Terrier Rescue." (My choice this time... to rescue a dog!) Holly was taken to the rescue by a "back-yard breeder" that sold her sibs to a pet shop at 6 weeks. The pet shop wouldn't take our Holly, because she was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around one of her hind legs, and still favored this leg when the other pups were sold. Her leg is just fine, and 95% normal now... she just needed time to heal... and we were so happy to have the chance to adopt her! She is such a wonderful puppy... and our Lucy's best friend!

I got both my babies from the Humane Society...After visiting there, I will ALWAYS get my future dogs from there. It is such a sad and hopeless place for all those precious babies to have to spend their life. :( If I could care for all of them, I would. They sure deserve a loving place to live.

Originally Duke was from a shelter, but I got him from his previous owner's home. They had adopted him around 16 months, and about a year ago they found out they had to move. They posted an ad on Petfinder, I saw it, called, and now he's here. :)

Dudley (top) was abandoned by a guy who got done for fraud, and Holly (bottom) was rescued from a puppy farm where, rumour has it, she had over 100 babies.

I got Molly and King from a friend's ex-girlfriend. There were 13 pups originally, and she still had 8 at 3 months of age, and was losing her mind. Right after we took them, the last six wound up at save-a-pet. So far, I have seen six of the litter for sure, and two probables over the last 5 and a half years. All seem to be doing ok.

From oldest to youngest, I picked up our Husky-Shep mix as she walked along a hi-way, I put her in the cabover truck, bought her a pack of hot dogs to eat on the way home, opened her door and she bolted after a stray cat, doggone, nope I whistled a shrill loud whistle and she broke from the cat and returned, that was 12 years ago or so. I got the chiuahuah from a pest control customer who had a 10 yr old chi also, smidgy started showing domination and biting the old chi so the lady told me she had to get rid of her. I told her I had a bigger dog that could take it. I took her home, handed her to my daughter telling her to go to her room for at least half hour and they have been unseperable since. That was 10 years ago. Next door to a pest control customer I was servicing I saw a litter of pitbull pups in less than good condition and a pair of old pit parents who were pretty protective. I thought about it for a spell, told the family we were going for a ride and wouldn't ya' know it we ended up on that little backstreet;) The people were asking $150, I told em that was high for a back yard breeding. My customer saw me and came out so I ended up being introduced as the bugman, I did german roach and flea control as pay for my little Rosie Red, almost 4 years ago. My son was followed by a big beautiful blue pit bull female 2 years ago. I told him "no way!" She had tags with a conneticut phone number. The vet gave us her name "Chase" but said he had no way to call the owner who had moved. I sent my son with the dog back where he first saw her to see if she would go home as she was not loose long by appearence, sure enough she picked a house where my son was verbally attacked by a crazy lady 'cuz the dog had busted out of the gate and her other dog was still missing! It turns out her husband was letting a worker stay there and it was his pitbull. He did not know where we lived but was walking around calling her. My son was reluctant but went out and let him know we had her, he saw the love she was getting and the love our other dogs get and decided it would be better for her to stay here in our home. That is where we got our 4 current dogs. Brent
