Some kind of biting insect has decided it finds our bedroom to be quite a lovely place to live. I'm guessing because the bedroom is the only room in the house with carpeting. I was cuddled up in bed with my husband, watching TV together, and something was biting me like crazy. In the hour or so we were watching TV, I've accumulated several lovely welts. One on each leg, one on my cheek, and one on my wrist.

The annoying part? My husband wasn't bitten once. Not ONCE. Whatever this insect is, it finds me delicious. I don't think it's fleas or bedbugs. From what I understand, those buggies leave small red welts in groups. My bites look exactly like mosquito bites: good-sized raised, single welts, but I can't figure out how mosquitos are biting me under the sheets.

So yeah. Instead of being cuddled up and going to sleep, we're now washing the bedding and just finished spraying the entire bedroom with an upholstery/fabric flea killer. We'll call the local exterminator tomorrow.

Gah. I love country living. :wall:

I don't know if it's bedbugs. I've been looking up pictures of bedbug bites online, and mine look nothing like that. Also, I've gotten one or two similar bites while sitting on my desk at work. I think it's some kind of pest taking advantage of the recent spate of rains this area has been getting.

When I was complaining to my mom about it on the phone, she said that during certain hormonal stages, women can become extremely attractive to biting insects. Anybody ever heard of this, or is it an old wives' tale? It could possibly explain why I'm being bitten and my husband doesn't have a single welt.

Hmmmmm, that is weird! ......but I'm sure you're much sweeter than he is :lol-sign: As for the 'old wives tale' your mom passed on.........Old wives tales, in many instances, hold much truth and started for good reasons ;) Old wives have been in the trenches and learned many things the hard way, LOL

I agree with you, I'd say that's one reason they are in your bedroom.........carpet supplies so many good hiding places. Can't get down to the nitty gritty cleaning the way you can with hard surfaces. Do you guys have plans to get rid of the bedroom carpet and do the wood floors in there too?

Yes. We HATE carpet. Only sheer willpower kept me from ripping out the carpeting last night, LOL.

No bites today. Hopefully we got rid of whatever creepy crawlies there were last night.
