Please crosspost widely. Remember - it takes no effort to add ANY breed once these laws are passed!!
** PLEASE CROSS POST FAR AND WIDE **
Ontario Canada's Attorney General Michael Bryant has introduced Bill 132 to ban all Pit Bulls and "pit bull type" dogs across the province. Although existing pit bulls with owners are grandfathered, all others (including cross breeds or even similar looking dogs) face certain death, or worse, a life and death of torture in a scientific facility. The entire text of Bill 132 can be found here:
http://www.ontla.on.ca/documents/Bi...ion1/b132_e.htm
Status of the Bill:
Bill 132 has passed second reading in the Legislative Assembly and has been referred to the Standing Committee On The Legislative Assembly. This committee held public hearings over a span of four days but judging from the Attorney General's recent comments (see link to newspaper article below) the committee hearings were just a formality. All veterinary associations, animal welfare organizations, animal experts etc. etc. are VEHEMENTLY OPPOSED to this bill but their presentations fell on deaf ears!
There is little time left before the Standing Committee makes recommendations to the entire Assembly. Time is short and we must act NOW!
