Day #4 of crate training.
We had a minor incident the other night when I put Virgo in her crate and just stood out of sight for a while to see what she would do. What she did was grabbed the crate pan and proceeded to try and tear the corner off of it, since she couldn't headbutt her way through the door. Since then, I've been throwing treats at her anytime she goes in the crate and lays down on her own, feeding her in there and locking the door and walking away to make my coffee. I only come back when she's quiet.
Now today...normal routine, breakfast in the crate followed by some hanging out time with the door shut while I checked Chaz and all. About 5 minutes ago she went in and layed down with the door open. I threw a few treats at her (EVO RM for the time being; picked up a sample pack) and praised her. Then I went to the kitchen to get some more food for my lunch and was gone for 3 minutes or so.
Virgo *stayed* in the crate while I was out of the room. Door is wide open, nothing to keep her from following me to the kitchen in hopes of hoovering up dropped crumbs. She just continued to lay there BY HERSELF.
For her, this is HUGE.
