Photoshop help

I'd like to add a colored box to this photo where I can insert words:

Any one familiar with Adobe Photoshop Elements and how to go about doing this?

Just a colored box? You can do that in paint. Create a shape, then fill it in with the paint bucket.

You can add text in Paint, too.

I'd just make two layers. Use the rectangle box tool to make the colored box. Then on top of that layer, I'd use the text option to write text.

Here's a screenshot of the toolbar. Highlighted in the red box is the shape tool and in the green box is the text tool. Using these tools will automatically create a new layer.
