It seems my puppy is passive agressive. He sometimes gets scared when we are out at the park and he's terrified of riding in the car. He's working on not being as scared and he will run up to other people and dogs. At home though he attacks you out of nowhere. The vet says he needs more attention but I can't give him any more as he is followed around the house when not in his crate, played with, walked. I don't see how he could possibly need more attention. Sometimes after a long walk at the park or running around chasing the neighbor's dog, he will not bite as much though. Today at puppy class he was being pretty good, a bit distracted with the other dogs as usual but he'll do anything for a treat! Well the English Mastiff puppy who's three times his size got mad at my lab puppy for going near his toy and I think freaked out Gunner pretty well. He started to get into a little fight with another puppy after that and he is acting weird now at home but still attacking me. Also once at the park and at puppy class, he rolled over onto his back and peed. Any ideas what could be wrong and how I can fix it? I'm convinced that not all the bitting is puppy play (some yes, but not all).

Well we just got back from the vet and Gunner most definitely peed all over; must have been atleast a half gallon. On the floor, trail to scale, puddle on scale, and covered the exam table. He only started this within the past week and a half. What do I do? Also he's going to the kennel tomorrow for thanksgiving, is there anything I should tell the people there?
How old is your puppy? There are many possibility that he might act like that. First, he might be teething and also playing at the same time. Second, he doesn't know what his doing right and wrong. Third , needs alot of attention and needs to be more socialize with people and other dogs. Fourth, maybe he has mood swings or needs to be neutered. I really think your puppy needs alot of more attention meaning as you need to play with you puppy more and also needs to be more socialized.
I guess Gunner's almost 3 3/4 mo. He is getting neutered on Dec. 3 so I was hoping that might help. The vet said that Lab puppies are atttention hogs which could be understatement about Gunner. He is attached to people all day. When he rarely sits still and chews on a toy he'll get up anytime you move, follow you down the hall. move closer to you if you move away. It's been raining a lot here in the past week so he hasn't been walked as much but he hates the rain anyway. He gets played with too, he loves to play fetch with the tennis ball and will slide all over the kitchen floor. He also will run around the house with a water bottle we put some rice and noodles in; he loves the noise it makes and it's his favorite toy. He'll also run laps around the house almost everyday. So he gets attention almost all day; I don't get anything done because I'm playing and watching him all the time. I don't see how I could give him any more attention. I think it helps if he has exercise he's less prone to attacking, although he'll still do it just not as much. Gunner is a ball of never ending energy. Not even a 1 1/2 mile walk at the park right after running along the fence with neighbor's dog will wear him out; I'm going to wear myself out before he ever does. Last night at the vet while we were waiting, was the first time he has ever voluntarilly slept since I've had him (4 weeks). Yeah I know he's teething and maybe this stage and the teeth are amplified with a bigger dog because I don't remember anything like this with our Westie. I'm just tired of him running at me out of nowhere growling and attacking me; my hands and toes have beensliced open and bleeding too many times to count. I just think he has some sort of problem because doesn't try to bites anyone else who visits in the front yard, petsmart, or at the park. When he bites sometimes it starts as teething biting but then he turns more agressive when you try to get your hands back and sometimes he just starts out agressively bitting. He can be very sweet about 5% of the time but the other 95% is spent attacking everyone in the house. When he's doing the teething biting, you can trade him your hand for a toy usualy but when he gets agressive, he wants nothing to do with the toys. Maybe I will have to carry a bag of treats in my pocket because he'll do anything for food.

Ok I know your problem. TOki was just like what you said when he was 3 months. When he was teething he would bite my hand and toes. He would not bite on my clothes or his own toys or even other items that I have laying around on the floor. He loved to bite my hand and toes. If I don't watch him he will come out of no where and bite my toes and even growls. But this stopped after like a month. Believe me if does hurt because they don't know how hard they are bitting onto you especially you have a bigger dog with bigger teeth. I have a yorkie with tiny sharp teeth. And that is also true your dog being submissive. If I were to play with a doggy toy with my dog and he can't catch it he will take it out on the toy when he has the chance. He will growl and attack like crazy. But he doesn't do that to me so maybe Gunner needs to find other toys that he will prefer playing.
