Canine Cancer. It is the leading cause of death in dogs over the age of 2, afflicting one in every four. Not long ago, a cancer diagnosis for a dog meant a short, painful life. Fortunately, in recent years, veterinary scientists have made tremendous strides in the area of canine cancer research. Their breakthroughs have led to the development of new treatments aimed at curing canine cancer and extending the lives of our faithful friends and companions. But there is much more work to be done.

The Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) has funded more than 100 canine cancer studies so far, driving the fundraising and helping coordinate the research of schools of veterinary medicine, cancer centers, and scientific organizations around the world. They have established the Canine Cancer Campaign, an effort aimed at curing canine cancer within a dog’s lifetime – the next 10 to 20 years.

The winning photograph will be on the cover of the Fall 2010 Orvis Dog Book and the winning photographer will win a $500 Orvis Gift Card! Entry is free at the 2009-2010 Orvis Cover Dog Photo Contest

As an added bonus for 2010, we're offering you the opportunity to vote for your favorite dog photo and help fight canine cancer! Orvis and Eukanuba Dog Food have teamed up with The Morris Animal Foundation to help find a cure for canine cancer. With your help, we can save countless dogs from suffering and premature death. Orvis and Eukanuba, together, will match your tax-deductible contribution to the Canine Cancer Campaign up to a total of $30,000. So, every dollar you donate becomes $2 for the Canine Cancer Campaign.
