Zoom you might try to just switch their food very progressively - example, only putting 10% of the new one at first, then 20% etc. It makes it easier for them to get used to it.

yeah well it's the only canned food I can get my girl to eat besides Pedigree and it's better than pedigree. I like adding the canned food into her kibble and if that's the canned food she likes than that's what she gets. I feed her a high quality kibble (Eagle Pack) so it's not like I'm feed her a diet of nothing but crap!
oh julie, don't take that as something i said personally against you. :) it's just an overall evaluation of the chicken soup food.

by the way, the canned varieties of these mainstream foods are actually much better quality than the dry foods. even nutro natural choice canned food is pretty decent.

if innova is the best, what do you consider the 2nd best? or even the 3rd best? innova is not sold in my area. also can you order direct from the company? I didnt see an option for that on their website.

Oh, Ok. Sorry Mordy. I feed Eagle Pack and that is highly recommended, also Canidae (but I've never fed that). Those two would probably be the other two that are high on people's lists here as well as the Innova. I know petsmart online sells Eagle Pack (I think petsmart, it maybe petco). If you go to their website you can order it.

i Just switched to Kirkland dog food...bought at costco (or maybe sam's club too?)

Its sooo much better than the other crap he had (purina dog chow - i dont know who bought that, i was up at school though!)

I couldnt even progressively switch, because he would take his food, dump it on the mat, and only eat his new food, haha

The ingredients are really good in my opinion...but then again im no expert on dog food!

Its also pretty cheap, which is always a plus...$14.99 for 40lbs of Chicken and Rice

What's the best food someone can buy at PETSMART? I can't seem to find ANY store in TEXAS that carries Innova & having UPS deliver dog food is a little strange but for me but I WILL do it if I have to. Currently feeding my baby Dobe Royal Canin & was thinkng of switching to Nutro Natural Choice but I can see it's not "ranked" among 'the best' in this board/forum. I truly DO want the best & price doesn't matter as relatively speaking it's worth it in the long run.

the only food worth buying at petsmart is blue buffalo. it's a nice food and made of good quality ingredients, but it's overpriced for what it is.

if you look around, you might indeed find a distributor that will ship a good brand of food to you at a decent price. innova aside, also look into canidae and eagle pack holistic, they have a pretty good distribution network. call the manufacturers and ask.

It's very frustrating NOT being able to find the best of the best at a local store. I guess I'll go see if I can find that Buffalo one. What about Nutro Natural Choice? Is that considered "good"?

I think that nutro is mostly a rip off for the price it's sold at in most stores. But it's better than the average commercial food, it's what I fed my dogs before switching to Innova. I don't think it's worth switching to from royal canin though.

Thanks for that. I guess since it's what actually AVAILABLE I WAS thinking of switching her from Royal Canin to Nutro. I guess till I can find how & where to order Innova at a decent price INCLUDING shipping then we'll see. Still curious about that Buffalo. I don't recall seeing it at Petsmart but I'm going to go check.
