My parent's dog Emmy got hit by a car last night. It broke her back and my dad had to take her to the vet to be put down. My dad was crying when I talked to him last night. I've only seen/heard my dad cry twice in my whole life. Whoever hit her just drove away....I hope karma has something really nasty in store for them the bastards.

Emmy,

I'm going to miss you so much. I can't imagine going home and not having you there to greet us. I'm going to miss seeing you play stick in the backyard and watching you launch yourself into the water after a tennis ball. You used to try and stick your head through my steering wheel so you could sleep on my lap while I was driving. You never got over your love for kitties either...Dad said you just transferred it over to skunks. You were the worst retriever ever born I'm pretty sure. Everytime I asked you to fetch you'd act like I said the most insulting thing possible...and spit out whatever happened to be in your mouth. You made up for it in so many other ways. I remember teaching you how to sit and lay down and high five. And how you'd grumble when we made you roll over.

Oh Emmy I'm going to miss you so much. I hope Penny is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you. We'll meet again someday.

Goodbye Emmy Lou.

I am so terribly sorry. A tragic way to lose such a grand dog. Run free Emmy.

Thank you guys. My dad is completely wrecked and blaming himself. My mom is pretty much devastated and no one else is doing that great either. I just can't believe she's gone.

I'm so so glad that I got to see her last weekend. I feel...draggy. And irritable. I can shut off the sad for periods of time and then I remember and I....I don't know what to do about it. She went everywhere with me when she was a baby. And she moped for weeks after I went to college. She was the first dog we had that I really bonded with and now she's gone. In a way I think it's easier for me than my parents because I don't expect to see her everytime I turn around. She was never at my house so I just can't picture her there. I don't think I could stand being at their house right now. I wish dogs lived as long as we do. :(

I'm so sorry. That is just horrible! I can't believe that they didn't even stop.

*BIG HUGS*

I'm here if you need anything.
