Wow Kerri thanks.
I'll probably do that tomorrow. I'll try to go to sleep around ten tonight... and wake up about 8 in the morning.

What do you do at night usually shortly before you go to bed? I know sometimes that if I stimulate my mind too much with something exciting right before bed it makes for a challenging time as I try to fall asleep. I try and take 30 minutes-1 hour to just wind myself down and that's helped me to fall asleep. Of course, some people are quite the opposite... so I dunno.

I'll do what you do. I normally am thinking about everything in the world before I go to bed and then I keep thinking about things long after I'm in bed... So I'll try winding down before I go to bed.

What really helps me fall asleep is one of those audio books! I usually list to some kind of a romance novel because it kinda interests me... but at the same time it totally bores me so I just fall asleep. For some reason the voices comfort me as well - maybe because when I was little I would listen to tapes before I fell asleep.

oh you brat... you pratically forced me to eat that custard... hehehehe

ya... that's my story and I'm sticking to it :D
I did NOT.

Besides, I really wanted your banana split. Next time we can switch, and I'll eat both, and no one will force you to eat anything. :D

So I weighed in on April 2nd at our "Biggest Loser" meeting right before getting on a plane for a 2 week business trip. They put me at 240 pounds on the nose (109 kilos). I don't know how many of you have ever traveled on business before, but it's tough to eat right and exercise while on the road. 16 days of it often leaves me 10 to 15 pounds up from my starting weight.

I weighed in last night at 239.6. I was thrilled that I came back at basically a status quo. Now I just have to work hard for the remaining 5 weeks. The other folks have a two week jump on me with the losing. At least my wife is in the top 5 of losers at this point. I was until I basically didn't lose anything for 2 weeks.

My wife is teetering on the edge of the 100 pounds lost mark. She's at like 98 now. Pretty soon...

Joining in

Okay... I just spent a good portion of my afternoon reading this thread. I've wanted to join in for a while, but I didn't really know how to start typing the post. So here I go, I'm just jumping in...

I am 5'6" and currently weigh just over 190lbs.

In my best shape, I weighed about 150lbs. Granted, I wasn't exactly in "great shape" even at that weight, but that seems to be a good start for a first goal.

As for a time frame... I'm going to a small family reunion type shindig in July. It's on a lake, so definitely a swimsuit environment. If I can at least lose 20 of the 40lbs by then, I'd say I'm on the right track. :)

This is my plan:

Exercising
  • Walk Morgan every morning (minimum of 30 minutes... longer as he grows to handle it)
  • My husband and I just got a YMCA membership, and I WILL use it at least twice a week after work
  • On days that I am not at the YMCA after work, I need to be doing something active around the house (walking the dog, laundry, clean a room, wash dishes by hand, etc...)

Eating at home
  • Follow the serving size recommendations on food packagings (rather than lumping portions onto my plate)
  • When I pack my lunch for work, pack a max. of 3 items - at least one item must be a fruit or veggie
  • If I must eat a snack, it must be a fruit or a veggie

Eating at restaurants
  • Whatever I order, I will divide it in half and set one of the halves aside to box up and take home.
  • I may split one appetizer OR a desert (NOT both) with another person/people (This rule will be quickly replaced with NO appetizers/desserts PERIOD if it proves to be a problem.)

If these things don't work, I'll go to calorie counting. I've done it before, it's annoying, but I'll do it again!

Wish me luck! :D

Doh! I went back and read this and realized I left out a couple of my rules.

Exercising
  • Walk Morgan every EVENING, too!

Eating
  • No eating after 7:30pm

There, that ought to do it. :)

I've written these out on a slip of paper which I'm carrying in my purse to remind myself, as well.

Hey, guys! How's everyone doing?

I'm down another couple pounds... Which makes me about 50-55lbs lighter than I was at my heaviest point last year (which now seems absolutely revolting to me, considering I'm STILL pretty fat) but the weight is coming off a lot slower now, for some reason.

I've lost 6 pounds now. I'm shooting for another 10. Once I lose 10 more than I plan on cutting my hair as my reward to myself. I really need to get my hair done badly so it's pushing me to work harder on losing the weight.

I have lost probably 3 lbs and I got another good 10-12 left.
I'm doing like Amber, and getting my hair done when I lose my weight.
