WHEW!!....I was lost in space for awhile..couldn't get back on the site and being a bit of a drama queen, I was freaking out. lol (THANKS, Chaz!!)

Hammie never ate like a 'dog', meaning he'd eat slow...sometimes all of his dinner, somedays not much at all. I learned from here that was normal for his age as those hormones were kicking in. Now...obviously the first day after surgery, he ate little. WELL...LOOK OUT KITCHEN NOW!!!! He is constantly hungry, eats like there's no tomorrow, and no matter how much he has consumed...he's looking for more. I thought at first he was just very hungry from missing a day of food. Now, I'm curious. I'm so happy he is feeling so well, but do you think this is normal? The vet said you have to be careful after neutering that the animal gets lots of exercise or he'll get too heavy. I'm keeping him at the same food level, and he'll be back to his normal exercise level next week. Did his appetite suddenly increase due to the change in hormones?? I can say this because he isn't looking....lol.....but he is eating like a pig.

He is still pushing me around from behind with that darned E collar. no wonder he is hungry.........

Think it might be more of a security thing, comfort eating, than that he's really hungry? After all, you did say he had separation 'issues.' Instead of giving him extra food, try giving him attention (like he's not getting all of it now already).

He was always a Momma's boy.......now, I can't move without him....I fight to get the bathroom to myself. If it's one thing that boy doesn't need..it's more attention. LOL Could still be a comfort thing, tho. I also just thought of something else. He is terribly bored. He can't even chew on anything with the conehead thing going on, and physical activity is to be limited til mid-week. Like people sometimes do....think it could be sheer boredom?? I know I'M bored with him indoors all day and night. We haven't eaten refined sugar in ages.....I'm craving cookies. Good thing there isn't a store handy!!!!

He's just being extra clingy cause he's used to having Addie to play with. We'll both be glad when we return to our usual routine. :D

Hammie sounds like he could be a bored eater - among other things ;) I think you gave him an excellent name. It sounds like it fits him perfectly. Put him and Kharma the Drama Queen together and we could have Shakespeare in the Bark, errr, I mean Park. :D

Who told you there would be a return to the usual routine? He's going to do his utmost to keep all the good things about this routine - like all your attention, all the time, and all the fun stuff from his regular routine.

Don't be surprised if Addie doesn't know whether to fawn all over him or snarl at him. She's got to be jealous by now, and you know he's going to rub her nose in it.

Renee........I keep telling Dave.....OH MY.....we are in for quite a time when we decide SIR HAM should scoot outside. (hubby is looking forward to it.....NO private time with Sir Ham) He is just so spoiled. Addie kinda seems to like him out of HER pen. She makes me laugh.....she LOVES the pen. I guess it's her domain. She has been so totally scared of his conehead..but I took the E. collar off, so I'm bringing her in to see how they are. I don't want him getting too rowdy yet. He misses her MUCH more than she misses him!!

I have my doggie time..........and my private time. Ham prefers I have HIM all the time!! LOL

Addie will be torn......she loves the play.......but I'm not sure she misses the pain-in-the-butt Hammie.

Soon...............my bad little boy will just have to go outside some so Momma gets a break. At least without the E. collar.......I have stopped being pushed around...AND I have stopped cringing EVERY time he crashed into my table. Not to mention the walls..............AND, I can go back upstairs soon to sleep. Tried that last night..........Ham went under the bed with his big conehead collar.........got stuck. I ended up sleeping with him downstairs in the spare bedroom. :( OH YEAH..........THAT OLD ROUTINE WILL COME BACK!!! lol
