My poor boy got attacked by three bully type dogs today. We were at a friend of mine's house, and his neighbors own them. I guess they let them just run loose. Which if I'd have known that before the incident I wouldn't have brought Ludwig being we were spending time outside all day.

So anyways. We were out by the fire roasting some things to eat, and Ludwig was behind me a few feet on a pile of sticks, grass, and dirt he'd decided was a good bed, laying down. I got up to go to the table to grab whatever I need, and then looked to see what Ludwig was up to and saw the three dogs near the edge of the wood area sniffing around, so went to grab Ludwig and bring him inside as I didn't want them coming near him as I didn't know them for safety. Well, the dogs must have got excited by me in some way, and one came running full blast in our direction, then the other two followed. Being I had walked over to the table, I was farther away than before, so I wasn't able to get to Ludwig before the first dog. Ludwig had stood up to run somewhere to get away from the dogs, as he saw them coming, but just as he got up the dog ran him over basically, knocked him down and rolled him from the impact and directly zipped directly around and bit Ludwig right on the back. Then I got there and kicked the dog on the shoulder and kind of pushed him away with the kick, ya know? Bent down and grabbed Ludwig, and by then my friend had come out with his airsoft gun and was shooting around the dog and at its legs and it was bothered enough by that that I was able to get Ludwig inside! The other two dogs really didn't do anything thankfully, as three going after Ludwig while just one was so hard to deal with would have been hell. They just ran around and barked.

I looked over Ludwig and besides the punctures, he didn't look too bad, but we brought him to the vet to make sure we weren't missing anything, and he seems fine otherwise, which I am so thankful for and surprised about.

Whew! I hope he doesn't get skittish around dogs after that, although it would be perfectly understandable.

People who let their dogs -- of any breed/type -- roam loose need to be horsewhipped.

Poor Ludwig! Good thing only one of the dogs was aggressive, I can't imagine what would have happened if all three had ganged up on him! Why must people let their dogs run free?

We had a fluffy black dog that lived way down the street and always ran loose with her daughter. I didn't know them the day they came into my yard, they usually stay down the other end of the street I guess, so I figured since I had never seen them before, they must have gotten loose. The black dog was super nice but the daughter (adult but young) was really shy, but wouldn't leave her mother. I put a leash on the black dog but couldn't get one on the daughter for a while but she was the one wearing tags. Anyway I finally leashed the daughter and got a hold of the owner who seemed upset I called and he came and picked them up. A week later I find out the black dog has attacked several dogs and nearly killed one. She bit a teenager who was trying to break up a fight between the dog and her GSD. And they still let them run loose.

6 months later my mom comes home from the school she works at and says one of the children in the family that owns those dogs came to school crying. I guess the night before a neighbor heard the daughter dog barking her head off in the woods behind their house and went out to find the black dog had fallen through the frozen lake. He called the police but by the time they got there it was too late.

Luckily I believe they don't let the daughter dog run loose anymore, unfortunately their dog had to die for them to change their ways.
