Hey I just adopted my first dog, he was like a 20th birthday gift. He is 7 weeks old and i was trying to get people's opinions on his breed. My aunt thinks he has boxer mix in him, i think he has german shepherd but he is a mutt and i am happy he is. Someone at my church dropped him off in a cardboard box/cage the object is in question, he had worms and was a tad malnourished but now he is back in tip-top shape. He is 7 weeks and knows how to play fetch, and is almost completly potty trained, very bright for his age. His name is Charlemagne or Charlie for short some people cant seem to say the name we gave him, so we gave him that little nickname.

Here ya go:

To be honest she is pretty young for us to be able to give you a good idea of her breed. If you post more pictures when she is older (6 months or so at least) we could probably give you a more accurate idea :)

Yep, it will be more obvious as he gets older. My puppy looked a bit like that actually, and she looks absolutely nothing like she did when she was a puppy, so you can never really tell.

as he gets older i will put up new pics, we cant afford the dog DNA test so we can find out his mix. His fur is darkening right now, i also found out the GSD puppies have the floppy adorable ears.

The DNA test is a waste anyway, so don't bother even when you do have the money. ;-) They are very inaccurate and only test for something like 60 breeds anyway.

Yes, GSD pups have floppy ears but so do puppies of every breed. The dog in my signature named Keeva, the one with the huge upright ears? She had floppy ears until she was about 7-8 weeks. Honestly, the pup doesn't look like much like a GSD pup at all to me - the face is too fine and pointy. The only superficial resemblance is the color, I guess.

With a mixed breed, you often have to reconcile yourself with not knowing and just enjoying your dog.

It's very hard to say at that age. I don't see GSD, don't see Boxer at the moment either-just has the same color fur. I personally see a small breed in there, but hard to say.

I agree with Maxy. I don't see GSD or boxer either, and when I first saw him I thought he might have a smaller breed in there (maybe a small sighthound or terrier?)
(Unless your dog is purebred and you can see the signs of a resemblance compared to other puppies of the same breed) It's very, very hard to tell what there might in the background at this age.

i did some comparsions he has some of the personality of a german shepherd, but i also dont see boxer. The snout is a tab bit to wide and not narrow enough to be a purebred, since the area around the church is poor i do not expect him to resemble one parent but both since i am sure the parents were also a mix. He has a tendency to nip at my shoes when i walk, he also follows closely at my heels. But besides that we don't know, not yet and not for a while.

I know you're asking Maxy, not me, and I know you want a breed name, but all of us are saying it's very, very hard to tell at this age.
My best guess for the small breed is a small sighthound or terrier. I couldn't possibly name an actual breed that I see.

It gets easier at about 6 months, but even then it can still be hard to tell.
