My wife and I just moved with our dog (Manni) to Toronto from Boston. I'm sure we'll have lots of questions as time goes on, but so far we have two:

1) I feed Manni the Eagle Pack Holistic dog food. In the US I could get a 33lb bag for $43, but here in Toronto the pet food stores sell it for $65-70! Can anyone recommend a cheaper place to buy high-end dog food around here?

2) In Boston we took Manni on off-leash walking trails every weekend. Where's a good place in Toronto (we're near Yonge & Steeles) for this kind of doggy excursion?

Thanks!
Adam

Have you tried Global's Pet food or Ryan's pet food. Bark & Fitz has a lot of variety of high end, high quality foods as well.
If you ever go out towards Oakville, check out Ren's Pet's. Its on Trafalgar south of the 401 (at Britannia, i think?)

I used to live in Toronto, but downtown, so I don't know of any dog parks up in the north end. The city has info on their website though: http://www.toronto.ca/parks/dogs.htm

www.woofstock.ca is this weekend in downtown toronto -you might want to check it out, lots of doggie related stuff. You might find lots of handy info being new to the city.

Yeah Global Ryan carries it, and there's a store right around the corner, but it's $65 :(

Woofstock looks like fun! Thanks for the tip :p

Unfortunatley, dog food is going to be more expensive here. Most of the high end brands range around $60 ish for a 30lb bag... I don't know if you'll be able to find good food any cheaper than that :(

Definatley go to woofstock!! I wish I could go but I'm working!

All dog food here is pretty much more expensive. I know some people who cross the border solely for kibble runs. Not so easy from Toronto though as it is from the falls. In past when I've visited the states I've brought back 100 pounds of kibble or so.

I found USA to Canada they don't care. Tobacco, alcohol, firearms. Are you SURE you have no tobacco alcohol or firearms.. Really.. everyone brings back one.. No.. I have kibble. Wanna look at it? No..

I hear Canada to USA they care, I've known people who had to dump closed bags of kibble at the border because it was Canadian manufactured. Apparently has to be factory sealed and American to go to America.. I found last time they didn't ask. Not about rabies not about kibble. So my Canadian made Orijen in it's travel container made it over okay.

Their concern was my flipping car. Apparently it was 'too nice' and therefore we played 20 questions about it..
