Hi all,
I am new to the site and it is very informative. I love it!! I am wanting to start grooming, but there are no schools near me. What is the can I learn this from home somehow? I really don't want to leave my two small children for a long amout of time for training.

Thanks for your help!

i think it does take a lot of training though :/

i guess you could always try to find a dog groomer around your area that might 'mentor' you and give you some adivce. but if you're not willing to put in the time it might be hard to find someone

I'm learning on the job.. I got my job by asking around groomers and my old work place had to let me go because of money problems and my new job came to me out of pure luck! you need to expect to be given all the jobs you probably wont like.. for instance you probably wont be handed any scissors or clippers for about a year, you need to learn about bathing and blowdrying before you can move on to that, I would suggest phoning around groomers and asking if they would offer to train you up. Even ask just to do a work experience day to see if it would really be something you like before you commit yourself into it, Unless you take a home course I guess being out of home if needed, I personally prefer the hand on experience if you can get it because you get so much more from it than you would from a text book.

Good Luck ! :)
