My kids are too young and [3 & 4 years old almost] and my husband and I have not been together long enough [4 years this sept 28 we will be married]
and our fence is not high enough at 5 feet. We do not have enough shade in the fenced in area, there are 3 big trees and we have several little ones planted growing up to provide shade. We never use that area for the dogs anyways, it is where the kids toys are. We have another dog which is a 5 month old so he is a lot of work and we could never handle another dog???HUH?? Yukon is housetrained and is a great doggy and having another one does not make it harder or easier, they require the same things. Love, caring, training, food, water, shelter, love, love , love, love, love, exercise
Wow, they sound REALLY picky there! Not enough shade? Geez...It's a wonder anyone qualifies to adopt.

That is why they need to gas so many dogs because they would rather kill it then adopt it out. I got approved for this dog because I know the original breeder of the dog and he knows the orginal owner and he called her and told her to get the dog out now and I got in touch with her and told her what we wanted and what our lifestyle was like. She went and paid the fees and got the dog back the morning it was to be gased and is bringing it up to me in about 2 weeks. If I had not agreed to take her she would be dead right now. I think she will be a wonderful addition to our family. Here's the write up on her from the shelter.

She's a 2 year old purebred GSD. She's great with people and has grown up
with children. She pays no attention to cats. She's only been around a few
other dogs and has barked at them through the fence, but when they met, she
was very submissive and they just sniffed eachother. She has just gotten all
of her vaccinations and she is HW-. She is very well housetrained too.

I presume this is another shepherd. Good input by everyone. I would introduce on neutral ground. Being an adult female should not be too much of a problem. Males and females usually get along unless Yukon tries to get toooo personal if you know what I mean with the sniffing and she will put him in his place real fast. After a fashion I am sure she will be boss females usually are. LOL If she tolerates him this could be really good for Yukon. Give him something else to focus on instead of him being so selfcentered. I hope all works out well for you.

Yes it is a gsd, no idea what colour she is but she is spayed already and Yukon is neutered so at least there is no fear of having 10 dogs in a few months. lol

I was hoping to give Yukon some companionship but that was not our reason behind this adoption. We get together now with a group of dog lovers everyday, we have a kind of unofficial club started. We have set up all kinds of things to do with our dogs, like play fetch, like relay races, swimming, walks, obedience ...whatever. I am in charge of the scheduling for activities and I am completely drawing a blank at new things. That will be a new thread started in a couple of minutes; anyway.....
Marc has been taking Yukon everyday and I get left out so now I will have my own doggy to go with. The kids are all welcome to come too so it is great fun for the whole family. Everyone is a dog lover and everyone tries real hard to help everyone else. It is great fun.
