Wellll.... I got to see the new puppy this weekend, and I must say I fear for the little tyke.

Well, her name is Dolly - not what her name was supposed to be, but that's another story. She doesn't look like a Dolly at all,
and sure doesn't act like one!

She's very aggressive - tries to attack any dog that walks by (except
Ronin, for some reason)... and SO's mom coddles her all the time so
she thinks it's okay to be a turd around other dogs! She's also
"braindead" - she doesn't play at all, sleeps 20 hours a day, even
when she's awake she holds completely still and doesn't move. Steve
and I got her to walk, and it's like she's got spinal damage - she's
very wobbly on her rear legs, she walks like she's drunk.

As for her breeder... she sold her on full registration (but I fixed that with a quick scribble of my pen... mwahahaha I'm so evil) and the contract states that she CANNOT be returned for any reason, other than if she is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness within seven days of purchase. How's that for a stellar contract, eh? *rolls eyes*

Here are photos. She's cute, but all puppies are cute. I wish there was something I could do, but I fear she's going to end up a biter. All my well-meaning (and well presented) advice went in one ear and out the other. All I can say is that I tried, and I hope she beats all the odds stacked up against her and turns into a good dog. (I doubt it though.)

Poor little thing . . . she does not look like a happy puppy at all. You rarely ever see a pup that doesn't look happy. :(

I hope Ronin will be a good influence on her though.

No Juicy, she's from a puppy mill, and had been in a mill situation since early August. The breeder had to unload her because her mother was already in whelp to yet another litter of moneymakers. :( :( :(

She is a cute little thing, but so very sad :(

Not too different from Orson...........he was malnourished, ate up with worms, his little hips and spine stuck out.........he could barely walk as well.

Maybe now that she is in a good home (and if they listen to you AT ALL) this girl can have a decent/healthy life.............we can hope.

She is cute. And you did a good job capturing her personality with your camara.

Hopefully having Ada there with her full time will teach her to like other dogs. I hate to say it, but it sounds a little like same sex agression to me. Especially since the only dog that she likes is Ronin. I could be totally wrong though and I hope I am.

Didn't you tell me that his mom treated Ada the same way when she was younger? If so maybe try the same tactics you did with Ada so that Dolly learns that it is not a good thing to bite.

Good luck with her and keep us posted.

She is a doll!!! I'm really sad though that she was in that situation. It sounds like she's going to need a ton of work. Chloe was a bit like that when she was a puppy!!:( It's taken a lot of patience to work with her, and she still has her issues. Poor pup.:(

How very sad. :( She's very cute but I'm concerned for her too.

Is Ada staying there to help whip her into shape? lol

She's my in-law's dog.

She did, but Ada never had this type of aggression. Ada was ornery, but not outright aggressive, and she certainly didn't seek out a dog to fight (like this one does). And i will rarely see this puppy, so I won't have a chance to work with her.

She goes after Ada at every opportunity, and Ada is a bit taken aback by it all. I don't think Ada's the one to whip the little dragon into shape, unfortunately... :(

:( Poor Ada! P

That behavior frightens me in puppies.. It's just not natural for them to be aggressive and "braindead" rather than bold and curious. Especially a herding breed.

Those eyes hold the hurt of a 190 yearold man who was beaten with a stick everyday of his life. Maybe she'll brighten up? Bandit was a big sad ball of depression when I got him. He still has that aged, saddened look at times but he's also a big goof too. So maybe she's like Bandit... hopefully

Keep saying your advice. Maybe they'll hear it.

That's one broken pup...her eyes say it all deep in that puppy soul. I see fear and anger.

Give her all you can!

Hun to give you hope that was Bandit at that age! He is now a pleasant young gentlemen living with two dogs and could not be happier. Some do grow out of it. Then again I never encouraged that by coddling my dog in those situations. Only time will tell what will happen. Bandit beat the odds stacked up against him. Maybe Dolly can too?

i wish your in-laws luck with her and I hope they listen to you at some point, because those are not eyes I want to see on any dog, much less a puppy. Those are hard eyes. She's cute but....

Poor babyyy. She is so adorable, she doesn't deserve to have been so neglected. It sounds like she has an unimaginably horrible past, and a horrible breeder... the behavior issues seem to be inevitable.

Have you recommended they visit a behaviorist? Maybe, for Christmas, you could give them a gift certificate to a good trainer. It seems like it would give her better chances of becoming a well-adjusted adult.

I think she needs to go to the vet ASAP and be fully evaluated-- x-rays and such as well.

Showpug pretty much said what I was thinking...... (((hugs)))
