Anyone have any good recommendations? I need one very badly. I'm looking for something good and yet decent price range.

My problem is all my photo editing software is on my macbook. I may want to upgrade my photoshop anyways eventually so it's not a deal breaker. I like my macbook and it's done well it's just the price tag on macs is so high comparatively....

My toshiba was really good but my sister has had bad luck with her toshiba.

Laur, check out www.wegenermedia.com

I scored a refurb Macbook with new battery, big memory boost and lots of upgrades for less than $650. They came highly referred to me, and even Charley bought from them. He broke the G4 he bought (for less than $200) -- carried it on a plane trip without a case, set something on it  and they STILL replaced it.

I was extremely pleased with how they answered all my questions and -- with some guidance from Demitrious -- they helped me figure out what the best buy was for me. I'll absolutely buy from them next time.

Reddit has a great "Suggestalaptop" thingy.. It's sometimes veered toward gamers but there is such great info

You can even make a post with your budget and what you want to use it for and they help you!

The most popular picks seem to be
- Clevo
- Lenovo
- HP
- Dell
