Hello, Im new here, just found the forum. I hope I can learn something LOL.
We have an 11 yearr old fixed female lab/border collie mix that weve had since a puppy.
Sunday we brought home a 1 yr old male Walker Coonhound on a foster to adopt agreement. We really love both dogs, he seems very affectionate. He really follows the lab around, yesterday I noticed some behavior that has me concerned/confused.
She trys to avoid him, He likes to stick his nose in the side of her face, like hes tring to kiss her. He seems to be friendly about it, but she doesnt like it.
Diana at the rescue that we brought him home from tells me that he is trying to get her to welcome him in her pack....but a buddy of mine said hes trying to dominate. any thoughts ?

Well since you just got him, I think your Lab is trying to tell him who is Alpha----which is her. I think she is just making sure he KNOWS his place in the pack. :)

Hi and Welcome to Chaz! :)

Welcome to the forums! I would agree with what Liz said unless the lab is trying to kill him, and it didn't sound like it was the case :) My Yorkie is with me at my parents for the christmas holidays and he does the same thing to my mom's Palmeranian ( i know it isn't spelled right). She just gives him the growl and the brief snap to let him know she is in control. She is also in control of our docile basset hound who is 2-3 times her size hah hah.

Welcome to Chazhound :)

I agree with the others, it sounds like they're sorting out the pecking order, and they should be fine. Let us know ;)
