Hi! My 6month old pug is scheduled to be neutered this saturday and my nerves are killing me.....I guess I'm acting like a paranoid mother again! I just cant imagine the thought of my baby going through the operation table and knives....plus the slim chance that something might happen. Here in the Philippines, it's not very common for dogs to be fixed here, given the numerous stray dogs in the city. So this is really an issue I'm going through alone since alot of my family members dont really believe in the importance of neutering. I have a few (ok...alot) of concerns which I hope anyone could help me out with. Once neutered...... 1. will the personality of my dog change drastically? My pug is such a clown and can get quite agitated by the smallest thing....but in a funny way. Will all that craziness of his just disappear or will he remain to be the clown and happy dog that he is? 2. will his doggy smell lessen a bit? I read somewhere that fixed dogs dont smell as strong as un-fixed dogs, how true is this? 3. will he still be able to perform sexually if there is a female in heat nearby? just curious 3. wat changes should i expect right after surgery? 4. will his habit of play humping my other male pup or marking territory stop or atleast decrease. he just started lifting his leg to urinate in corners of my flat around 2-3days ago so the habit hasnt sunk in that much yet but the play humping has been there for nearing 2months now. 5. just for my peace of mind.....how safe is the surgery? my vet has assured me that i can pick up boozer same day as operation but is it really an easy and safe operation? Hope you guys dont mind my endless questions. I'm a over paranoid mother....I totally admit that. thanks!
