Hi all it's Matt, typing for Julia,
I'm not sure if she filled everyone in and on what yet, so I'll start from the beginning.
On January 20th, Julia gave birth to our happy, healthy, perfect baby boy, Carter Matthew, weighing 8lbs 10 oz. Everything is great where he's concerned. He sleeps 5-6 hours at a time, only cries when he's hungry and is (I'm being completely unbiased here) far cuter than any baby ever born in the history of the universe.
Unfortunately, shortly after delivery Julia suffered a seizure. CT and MRI found a brain tumour, though they were comfortable discharging her to home after a few days stay with an appointment to follow up with the Neurosurgeon.
Things were looking fairly good, but after shortly longer than a week at home, she began having severe headaches that weren't responding to T3's. I brought her into Emerg on Thursday morning and after consulting with the Neurosurgeon she was transferred via CCTU to Kingston and admitted.
We have seen the Neurosurgeon and at this point she will likely be going into surgery today or tomorrow to have a large portion of the tumour removed and biopsied to both relieve some of the increased pressure in her head, help with symptoms and allow them to develop a treatment plan. We'll know more by Monday, but certainly things are as serious as well, brain surgery.
Julia is coping extremely well. She's strong, positive and focused on the baby. She wanted to fill everyone in, but right now speaking and writing are difficult for her as the tumour is in the L-temporal lobe, the part of the brain the controls speech and language. She will however try to read any replies when she can.
Edit for a tiny addition from Julia: I appreciate if you guys could send along vibes and think of happy thoughts for me. I'll try to either think as positive as possible. I'd appreciate if you guys could send good vibes for me.
