As many of you know I will be getting a Berger Blanc Suisse puppy in June, if all goes as planned. The breeder has let me know that the names need to start with the letter D. So now we are on a hunt for D names. I like interesting names, that are not too common and that have meanings. They need to be female names. So I thought I would pick your brains so that I can find just the right one. Here are the ones I have come up with so far.

Daya - Sanskrit - Kindness, Mercy
    Dana - Spanish - Lady
Delma - German - Noble Protector
    Davi - Hebrew - Cherished
    Dalia - Arabic - Gentla

I like the names I use to be fairly short so they are easy to call out.

Dana doesn’t mean lady in Spanish, that would be DaMa.

Good luck with the pup and deciding on a name :)

    Dasha -Russian- Gift of God
    Diamond -Greek- Precious
Dixie -French- 10th born child, wall (Not sure what the meaning is about, but it's a cute name lol)
    Dakotah -Sioux- Friend
    Dallas -Irish- Wise
    Darah -Hebrew- Compassion
    Dawn -Sunrise- English
    Destiny -Fate- French
    Dolly - Beautiful - English

Not sure if all the meanings are right, some of them were on a site with names+meanings, some of them came from the top of my head, and I had to look up the meanings for.

Danefield the site I was on that gave names, language and meanings listed it as that. If it is wrong then I will correct it but after double checking the site that is the spelling it gave.

Dixie's mom those are awsome. Keep them coming. Never hurts to have too many choices.

Then the site it wrong, its an easy typo to make.

I really don’t care one way or another, I just thought I’d set you straight since I figured you don’t speak Spanish and it sure would suck to pick a name thinking you’re naming your dog lady in Spanish only to find out you just used a misspelled meaningless word.

At a place I worked, we had a clinic cat named Dama pronounced DAH-muh. She was named by her original owner who was from Spain. She had told us that her name meant "lady."
