also glad she's sounding like she's feeling better..

as for HD meds, what did he give you? Is she on any antibiotics??

Reason I ask, antibiotics , like doxycycline is used to treat a variety of tick diseases (if you go for a tick test ask for a SNAP 4, this is Lyme, HW, Canine erhlichia & equiine erhlichia),,don't let them tell you tick diseases aren't in your area,,they are everywhere!!!! It's an easy test, and easy cure if that's what it is..

Ok HD meds,,I'm not a big fan of long term use of things like Rimadyl on young dogs, There's alot of over the counter supplements you could be giving her for HD like, glucosamine, chondroitan, msm..etc,, Long term use of the Nsaids(like Rimadyl) can cause liver/kidney failure/malfunction..so I try to stick with a more natural approach if I can when it comes to structure issues.

Good luck, keep us updated

Diane,

Thanks!! He said that I could get something at Wal-Mart for the HD, but we're suppose to talk about it in more detail next week.

Meds she's on:

Clavamox - is the antibotic - 14 pills - takes twice a day - 375 mg

Rimadyl (Carprofen) - to bring her fever down only if it spikes - 1/2 tablet that can be taken every 12 hours - she only took one on Tues night and Wed when her fever spiked again - they also gave to her Tues a.m. when her fever got to 106 something. 100 mg is what I have - not sure what does they gave her at the ER.

P.S. Forgot to post that she is back to normal. Chasing the cat and trying to eat him like normal. Never thought I'd be so happy to hear the cat yelling cuz she's after him. LOL

Next week I'm going to make an appt to sit down w/ him to talk in detail about the other issues they found. HD, joints and spleen. She's on canadee so I think she's on a really good food.

Just a side note, you know that you have a good groomer if when she finds out and offers to come sit w/ you at the ER. Tells you to call at 1 a.m. after the test results come back.

that IS a good groomer!!!

Rimadyl, just so you know is not to reduce fever, it's an anti inflammatory for pain (such as HD)..

The clavamox is the antibiotic that is probably knocking down her fever. Good antibiotic.

Canidae is a good food.

With alot of dogs, sometimes you have to "fool" around with things for HD, arthritis to find what works for your particular dog..Some respond to stuff better than others..I like Glycoflex products too, they are all natural vs the Rimadyl, etc type things..

Good luck! It sounds like she's feeling much better
