Somehow...my aunt and her 3 teenagers (who have very little dog experience) ended up with two motherless supposedly 1 month puppies (they look a bit bigger, like 6 weeks, to me in pics).

Any advice on caring for them, socialization, training, etc. especially not nipping and stuff, would be welcome. If anyone has good links on puppy raising, regardless of age but especially for pups so young, it would be great.

If you look at the stickies at the top of the Puppy Forum, there are some topics that will help you.

I've had a puppy at 6 weeks old. I don't think it's much different than at 8 weeks old.

I potty trained by doing the taking outside to pee/poop after playing, after waking up from sleeping/nap, and every 2 hours for 2 weeks/24 hours a day. Yes, it was a lot of work, but after 2 weeks there were very few accidents. I helped my girlfriend do this with her 2 puppies and it worked.

I socialized by taking the pup all over but not letting it walk on the ground until it was safely immunized. The only time the pup was on the ground was at my home/yard.

If the pup nips, Smkie told me to take a wash cloth that is moistened with warm water. If you wipe the pups mouth with it when they start nipping, it supposedly feels like the mother licking them and they stop. It worked.

When the pup sits by itself, I would say "good sit" so association with actions and words started. You can do this with most commands at the beginning.

I know others will have advice for you too.

Can't wait to see pics.
