Filling in the stripes

we are still working the nails back, but much better

fuzzy wuzzy

my nanny granny Neighbor dog.

she is still a little pink from a long hot soak with much soaping and rinsing and towel buffing, and blow drying.

3 weeks changed foood, good nutrition, and probiotics,
one minor set back on the food but that will not happen again.
Because it happened the family say first hand what wheat was doing to her, and became serious about her recovery. THey said they will be vigilant and it will not happen again.
8 baths, including vinegar and water rinse at the end.
Anti fungals rubbed in the spots she could not reach.
I think we have turned the corner and she's going to be ok..
She is sleeping through the night, no scratching.
She is playing more and in general much happier.
Her people are on board and are teaching the baby not to feed the dog
and making sure she gets no wheat in anything.
They let me help, and I am happy about that.
Just glad this was an easy fix.
Thank you to the members here who put me on the right track by telling me
that the elephant skin is always yeast.
Thanks to this link for the info they provided that helped me find a way to'
give her relief.

The first time i bathed her I pressed a towel gently against her to dry her saying sorry sorry sorry..NOW whoohooo it's a buffing good time. Now she is not afraid of her bath but play bites the sprayer. I have a video where she lets me cut one nail with no drama. We celebrated! Every few days I whittle off a little bit more. When I bathe her I fill the tub about half way with hot water, and warm the bathroom up. THen I wait until the water is bath water temp before I get her. That way I have a full tank of hot water so I can keep the sprayer going and really rinse all of her for a long time.
She says it feels wonderful and always gives me a kiss on the cheek.

She smells good, her skin feels good all but the last patch on her belly, and on her elbows.. I really think we have turned the corner. The deepest scabs are still there, but all are gone from her back. Swelling is going down in her ears too. SHe is only pink in the photos because we had a long soak, with much scrubbing. THat grey yucky skin is sloughing off. I do a lot of massage on her legs and feet accessing those pressure points while I am washing them, she is getting much better about having them handled. Just don't think your going to get more than one or two nails before she has had enough and that is ok. I am patient and I have time.

I can't believe how good Neckbone is getting!!! You did a great job at getting her healthier and healthier by the day. She is so grateful for all you are doing to help her along the way. And good thing that her owners are starting to learn what she needs to stay healthy. I'm so happy for Neckbone and for you being there as her angel :)

She is looking so incredibly better!

This needs to get put out as an example of what sh*t food can do to a dog and how easy it is to fix.

That is why I started this thread. If this isn't proof I don't know what is.

I wonder if her new hair on her sides is going to stay lighter or if it will darken to the rest of her brindle. It is such a pretty color of gold and she feels just like a fuzzy teddy bear. :)

She had to do some learning herself about letting people help her. The first few times I knicked those nails back under water while Hyia held a big old spoon full of whipped cream cheese. This video was taken after a few baths, and you can see, tho we only do one at a time, there is no snap or fear. Your not going to get more than one or two, but that's ok, we can work with that. Click if you want to see her be a good girl.
