So... We MAY end up keeping one of the boys... MAY. Not sure which one, and while I would like to wait until I see their personalities before naming the one I will keep (the other one can be named by the owner - they will just have my kennel name), I just have too many options and need them narrowed down a bit :)

All of these are Finnish names/words with their English meanings. It's just the way I want to name my dogs. Their registered names will be Loistava's _______, the blank being one of the following Finnish names, which will also be their call name. I tried to not pick ones that might be too difficult to pronounce/spell out.

Koru - Jewel
Kallis - Expensive
Kulta - Gold
Valikoiva - Selective
Vaativa - Demanding
Ritari - Knight
Rikas - Rich
Toivo - Hope
Ensio - First
Into (the I is a long E sound) - Enthusiasm/Zeal

And obviously if anyone has any other Finnish ideas, I would love to hear them!

Note: This is NOT DEFINITE. But after all we've been through and the fact that I don't want to breed again for a good, LONG while, it sort of makes sense. Enablers are SORT OF welcome :p

I really like Into, personally :) Kallis is a close second. I love Finnish names, so your pups are right up my alley!

Ensio is my favorite, but I would only use it if you keep the first born pup...

I apologize in advance if that is the one that didn't make it... :(

I really like Rikas and Toivo. :)

Some random suggestions. Maybe it'll spark something in your mind that clicks for him.

Rakas = Beloved

Helmi = pearl

Topaasi = topaz

Juma = literally "the heavenly". In Finnish mythology he was the god of thunder and lightning.

Pekko = Finnish god of corn and barley and beer. :D

Helmi (as suggested by Romy) is my grandmother's name. :)

I love the idea of naming a pet Kulta, while it literally translates to "gold" it is used to mean something similar to "honey" or "sweetie." Mothers use it to refer to their children, boyfriends their girlfriends, etc. It can refer to either gender, but I always thought of it as a more feminine name.

I like Into, but I think a lot of people will mispronounce it as the english work "into." In fact, I bet most people are mispronouncing the "o" in the word as they read it in their mind right now! :p

The only boy pets that I've given Finnish names to were a mouse and a Robin that I rehabbed. The mouse was named Henka (which doesn't mean anything, it's just a cutesy nickname for Henri) and the Robin's name was Sika (which is Finnish for pig, he ate a lot).

Jessie, just curious, but what language is "Kye?" It doesn't look like a Finnish word and my translator program didn't recognize it as such. In Finnish the "y" makes a sound sort of like the english "oo," so, if Kye were Finnish, it would be pronounced sort of like Koo-eh.

I like the suggestions of Onni and Armas, both sound very strong, but have sweet meanings.

I know. I DO really like Kulta, but the other meanings throw me off (they do sound too feminine).

I'm digging Into (pronounced Eeen-toe), and Toivo, but there are other Finkies that have been named/have Toivo in their reg names. Koru was my original "OMG I found the perfect name!" find, until I kept searching and came up with these others LOL. Ugh. Names are difficult :p

I also don't mind if most people can't pronounce his name right off the bat - everyone at trials and such says Kimma's name wrong (it's pronounced Key-mah, but everyone says Kim-ah), so I'm used to it :D
