It varies for each of my dogs.

I HAVE to trim Sir's nails at least once a week or they're insane. Dremelling every two or three weeks.

Frag gets dremelled every 2-3 weeks.

Recon gets dremelled within every 2 weeks.

I don't anymore. He scratches sand paper now instead, to earn his breakfast. It took a while, we did it almost daily for a few weeks, but we finally have them down to a nice length so I'm thinking 2-3 times a week to maintain it, too early to tell if that'll do it though. It's certainly not the most efficient way to do it, but at least it gets done now and no blood or terror.

I have to clip Henry's nails every week or so. They grow insanely fast and he's very flat footed, so they don't wear down on their own despite lots of walking and hiking.

Every now and again I will break out the dremel and get them really short, but he hates it. The clippers are a lot easier for both of us on a regular basis.

Juno and Happy are every week. Juno's nails grow super duper fast and I actually should be cutting them twice a week to keep them at their right length. I can't seem to get the quicks on Happy to recede, so I can never get her nails short, so I just cut them often to keep them a more bearable length.

Lucy is whenever I feel like pinning her down. She's a pain.

Hmmm...it's been a while. They're pretty short right now, he's getting a lot of walking that's wearing them down.

I actually trimmed nails today! lol

But probably about once a month or whenever I notice them getting pretty long. I can only do Em's when she lets me but she's a nightmare. So yeah... she went a couple years without her nails being clipped. A few months back I just forced her down and did them. It was a lot of work but I've successfully trimmed them twice since then and she even let me paint her nails. :D

I was just curious because I did nails today. I dremel everyone once a week and never use clippers. Because they're kept pretty short there's never really been a need for me to clip them back before dremeling.

Less often than I used to need to?

Bailey's could still be done weekly I'm sure but I only get to do them about once a month now that she's living with my mom.

Buzz's I need to do hardly ever, and I think I've trimmed Gaby's twice now. I do need to keep an eye on hers and start doing dremel work when she starts taking treats better!

I clip Nola's nails every 1-2 weeks now. I was doing 2x a week to get her quicks down, but now that they're shorter I can do it less. She won't tolerate a dremel, no matter how much conditioning to it I do. :(

For those that clip and dremel, is there a reason you clip instead of always dremeling?
I think clipping is faster. I only dremel when the mood strikes me and I want to take the extra time to smooth and round everything. In general I much prefer clipping.
