I suppose it is because they are more comfortable to lean up against. I know all my dogs like to have their back to something when they are trying to get comfy. I am glad to hear they meet her approval. How many more days to go? Pretty quick isn't it?

Is that the whelping box should be 1/2 again higher than the dam is when she is laying on her side. This is because the pups can and will climb up onto their mother and can tumble out of the whelping box. Just some cardboard sides taped around should do the trick.

It is truly amazing how newborn puppies can get all over the place. They are very strong little buggers!!!!!

That is a nice set up.

Awww... she looks so snug as a bug getting to have some buggers. You're a good Mom getting her beddies right for her beforehand...

I believe she'll put the box into the crate .....then have plenty of paper for them to potty on. They will be cozy to start off !! 10 more days ?!?!

quote: How do you get in to help her whelp ??? Through the door ??? end quote.

lol I was thinking the same, when Willow had her litter I had to assist on the first, she was turning round and round and I enventually had to get in the welping box with her, lol I would have a struggle getting into that little space Im not the smallest of people lol.

good luck and fingers crossed it all goes like clockwork ;)

My whelping pen was wooden with one side off until after the whelp.....females whelped on towels and blankets which had to be changed as they got soaked.
