My puppy cries

My puppy cries and barks really bad at night after we go to bed. Is there anything i can do to keep her from doing this?

Are you putting her in a crate at night? Maybe you could let her sleep with something that has your scent on it? It worked well with my pup. I put an old small pillow in the crate with him to snuggle up against.

Problem solved no more puppy crys

Now I say at night, "time for bed Diego" and he goes to his crate.

No i just put her in the utility room and close the door. She sleeps in a dog bed with one of our comforters. but in the middle of the night she will start crying. But i will try putting something esle in there with her. Thanks.

The best thing you can do is ignore it. If you respond that will just teach her that if she barks and whines she will get what she wants. You can also try wrapping a warm water bottle or a ticking clock in a blanket and place it in her bed, that help comfort her. But don't respond to the whining.

several good books say to have your puppy sleep in your bedroom next to you....either in a crate or as the monks do, on a leash teathered to you. A touch, a hush and reasurance is sometimes all they need. Also, they can tell you if they have to potty. These poor babies are used to touchy feely lives. Can you take a soft blanket or something to the place you got him/her and rub it on the puppies or mommy?? This with a hot water bottle helps calm them. Of course it depends on the age.

P.S. If you still want to close her off in the utility room , consider making a cozy corner...a soft night light, and soft music.

You can ignore your dog and they will get used to it.

How old is the puppy? Is it possible that they need to do their business. Bubbatd is right, they're used to living amongst a pack and solitary confinement is lonely and scary. Can you either crate or xpen them near you?

Thank Ya'll so much for all the help. last night i had my laundry basket in there to wash and she must have slept all night cause she did not cry till this morning when she heard me up.
