So my mom is seriously thinking of fostering a Golden. We filled out an application and everything. It was more my idea but im glad shes willing to do it. A while back she/we were thinking about breeding her Golden (shes a therapy dog and an awsome one at) but after joining several dog forums I learned that she was not the best candidate to be bred.

Well I told my mother that if she wanted to see how hard it was to raise a litter of puppies that maybe she should foster a pregnant bitch or a mother dog with puppies. So we started to speak to a lady that used to show GSD's and there is a woman that rescues Goldens and Golden mixes on a small scale. We went down to her house (it was a 2 hour drive) filled out an application and are waiting to be called!

Now who knows how long this is going to take, we may get a call tonight, or we may get a call a year from now, I dont know but I sure and excited!

Congrats have fun!

Me and my mom want to foster, but can't for two reasons. 1, my dad doesn't want another dog in the house, and 2, we'd get way too attached to the dogs :(

That is the hardest part about fostering!! :p but you can't keep them all. I keep telling myself that, because once I hit 6 dogs I have to get a kennel liscense, and I don't want to have to deal with that LOL :D :D

We are fostering a pup right now and have fostered atleast 10 dogs. It is very fun but very sad when they have to leave, but I allways tell myself atleast I know I am helping animals. We foster for our shelter.
The one we have right now is a dashund mix(Spell check?) and is very sweet!
Good luck! Let us know when you get him or her.

It's dachshund.

It's awesome that you are fostering. I was thinking about it but my schedule is a little too busy these days. My boyfriend works from home, maybe I can convince him. Wish me luck.

Hey, fostering is so much fun, but even though you DO get attached there's nothing better knowing that YOU helped that dog get a wonderful home. I never actually fostered myself, but I used to babysit my neighbor's dogs( a boston terrier puppy, 2 flat coated retrievers, and a pitbull) and she fostered all the time, so I ended up babysitting the fostered dogs as well! It was sooo much fun ( not to mention I got paid $50 a week at 10 years old to play with my favorite animals in the world, lol) All in all, there's no doubt(IMO) to fostering, and I wish you the best of luck!
