One of my friends has a Chinese Hamster named Nutmeg and she ripped the other hamsters head off  She no longer can look at it and it needs a home where it can live SOLO. If you have a heart for her and are sympathetic for her please PM me. . She needs to be housed alone and tamed by a person who is very patient. We could try shipping. Thanks!

Hamsters are solitary unless they were raised together. That is sad that that happened. Unless she actually witnessed it happen, the other hamster could have died and the remaining one began to eat it. They will do that as will rats and mice. It can look pretty horrific but if they have been together for a long time and the owner didn't see the attack happen, that is probably what actually happened.

Nevermind. She decided to take it back to the pet store. I personally do not think this is a good idea, but her mom does not think it should go to another home because of how she punctured Sarah's hand so bad, but she would get adopted anyway so I do not understand  I dunno. But nevermind this thread.

Hey, how would you feel if your hamster ripped your other FAVORITE hamsters head right off its body? Would you just immedietly forgive it? Poor Marcy is right. Poor Nutmeg is not. Nutmeg is not being tossed around, shes fine, just trying to find a home.
If anyones interested, PM me..please. Or she is going to be taken back to the pet store which I do NOT agree with doing!

HAMSTERS will be HAMSTERS. It is not a good idea to keep them together, as like Brattina posted, they are solitary animals.

It's like pitbulls. Some are DA. Some aren't. But they should not be trusted together alone. The dogs fault? Of course not!

I just find it extremely sad that your friend blames the hamster as opposed to herself for lack of knowledge.

Chinese hamsters are not a true dwarf hamster, but are of a similar size as the other dwarf hamsters.

They are stated in just about every single website I visit as aggressive.

I agree it's unacceptable to blame the hamster.

As far as she knew they were Dwarf hamsters. They were housed together at pet stores, too. Not saying that pet stores are ever good influences.......

Sorry, I'm not trying to spout off at you.

People like your friend (no offence, lol) just bug me.

Again, NEVER TRUST PET STORE EMPLOYEE'S.

It's the number one golden rule for me :D.

As youngsters, they aren't aggressive. With age however, agression happens. It's reality.

Poor hammie. Hope it finds a home where someone can accept and understand it. With some one educated in hammie care of course.

I dont appreciate you critisizing my friend, but I'll live with it.
Also, she is on this forum so I wouldnt suggest saying that.
I dont trust pet store employees, never have and never will. She was poking the hamsters with pens.
I found a home for her on another forum. I think Sarah is going to ship her there. The person wanting Nutmeg is in Washington so it wont be a long ship. And no, there isnt a way to meet.

Hmmmm....

I would be suspicious! Is there no one in the area that can take her? It's kind of risky sending her off withought knowing the person.

I apologise for offending you and your friend, but I do not take back my words. I meant everything I said and am sticking with my beliefs.

If you purchase or adopt an animal, it is YOURS. YOU are responsible for educating yourself thoroughly on it's care. It is YOUR job to look for resources and think long and hard about the decision.

Your friend bought this animal. It was her responsibility, and in my opinion, she failed.

I wish the poor hamster best of luck and hope he finds the home he deserves; a permanent, educated one.
