Thanks so much for your support everyone. It really does mean a lot.
We buried Sakari tonight. Steve works nights so it was dark when he got home and we lit a fire in the backyard and had all the other dogs out there. They all very cautiously approached her, gave her a sniff and then seemed to let it go. Nanook seemed mildly concerned when we started to throw dirt on her and when it was finished she pawed the dirt a couple times
I'm not too worried about it though since she left it alone after that. We buried her under the big back window in the back yard. It hurts me that we rent and will be leaving her behind soon but I think she is buried good enough that no one will bother her. I think I'm going to plant a rose bush or maybe a lilac tree on top of her

OMG I'm so sorry Saje. My heart aches for you. I've been checking in at Chaz daily only to check on Sakari. I wish so much that things could have turned out differently. She was obviously a special special dog. You could see her sweetness in the pictures.

I'm so sorry Saje!!!!! I can't even put into words how I'm feeling right at the moment!!! I thought of you yesterday during the time I thought Sakari was passing. She was such a sweet spirt....she's at peace now and pain free!!
I so understand what you're feeling right now. I feel so blessed that I still have Jackson Browne with me still. The outcome could have been so much different.
I know that my sweet Abby met Sakari at the bridge, and they're running and playing now without a care in the world.

Oh, she and Cole and Daisy and Hunter will have such a romp together! *halfhearted smile* Poor litte Sakari. She is beautiful. Saje, I can't even express how sad I am for you right now. To have your new baby girl and to lose a friend at the same time. What a conflict of emotions. I wish it could have turned out different for you and your pup. Sunny sends kisses on your nose, and says if he was there, he'd lick away your tears. I'm sorry friend.
