These are my two jack russell terriers, Rocky and Jack. They are sisters and full of energy. They keep things crazy around here. They are always in trouble, always hyper and always on the go. We take them for a walk every day to burn some of that energy off! I love them with all my heart.

Rocky had one eye removed. The lens went to the back of her eye and caused her a great deal of pain. We rushed her to the vets when her pupil was massive and he sent us to an optromist three hours away from where we lives and he said the eye had to be removed. So the next day she had it removed. Now she is on daily eye drops for the rest of her life. It may happen to the other eye but so far so good, the drops have been working. So every three months we take her to the optromist for a check up.

cute pets :)

was it glaucoma that caused the eye problems? We hd to put down one of my dogs, Didi, to sleep, because we couldn't afford the eye removal sugery and I didn't want her to be in pain anymore.

Yes, it was secondary glaucoma and there is a good chance it will happen to the other eye but we are doing everything possible to save it. The operation was extremely expensive. I now have a savings account just for Rocky in case her other eye needs to be removed and for emergencies. All the vets say dogs do just fine blind. But I shiver every time I think about it. She needs to see a specialist every three months which is $150 plus gas to get there and her drops are really expensive, she’s on two kinds but I would pay anything for my baby. She is one mighty expensive puppy, haha That’s okay, as long as she is fine that’s all that matters.

How cute!!! How old are they? Is Rocky a cross with a cattledog?
They are six years old. Rocky and Jack are actually sisters from the same litter. Rocky and Jack are pure bred russells. I have never ever seen another jack russell looking like that.

LOL I breed and show JRTs.. I have never seen any... There must be something a few generations back (not only his markings but his body shape looks pretty cattle dog). But then we JRT people don't get to worried about that.. they are more of a type of terrier than a breed by many people's definitions.

I had a very well bred JRT who was a dead ringer for a chi... it happens.

I wish I had the money to of kept her alive. If Rocky does need his other eye removed, trust when I say he'll do fine. Didi became blind in both eyes before we put her to sleep, and she was her average self and she learned her way around the house without bumping into things. Only thing was she was a bit more cautious on walks.
