I was planning on getting a Chihuahua puppy for Christmas but found out that this little girl was adoptable and now she is mine!!! Her name is Princess, (I call her Sweet Pea) she is about 1 year old and she is deaf....and so precious!!!

She has been passed around in between several homes and was in the process of being passed again....I went to see her and automatically cared for her, she licked my hand and sat beside me and when I patted her head she turned her head over in my hand as if to say thank you! I brought her home last Wednesday 11/8 and she has fit in so well. She goes outside to potty and is doing a great job at that! She sleeps with me in the bed and is a wonderful companion lap dog....just what I wanted!!! She is a very sweet and loving little doggie and doesnt meet a stranger, she even likes my four year old that is loud and moves around alot, but of course she cant hear him so she still likes him too, :lol-sign: She adores my hubby because he is the one that sit stills longer than the rest of us :D

I've never known a deaf dog before and didnt know how it would work out but I am so glad I got her....I couldnt ask for a better dog! She is very smart and knows what I am saying by my hand/sign language and she is SPOILED ROTTEN ALREADY:)

Congratulations!! It takes a special person to bring in a "pass-around" to begin with, and especially a deaf one. Good for you!

I'm working with a deaf spaniel mix these days, and your Chi is a lot further along in paying attention to hand signals than he is!

Precious. Adopted dogs always make the best pets. It's like they know they were given a second chance. It breaks my heart to know what a lot of them go through. Good for you, she's a lucky girl!

She deffinently looks sweet. You deserve a cookie for addopting a passed around deaf girl.

I use hand signals with my hearing dogs and sometime the hand signal is more effective, the more I use the hand signals the more I would feel comfortable with a pup like yours.

CONGRATULATIONS! Good for you for not only adopting a dog, but adopting a deaf one!

Chihuahua's tend to lock themselves to their owner, so I don't think her deafness will be a problem for you since she seems bonded to you already.

CONGRATS!

I think I want to make some kind of award for the people on this forum who have ADOPTED a dog!! Ya! I'm SOOO doing that!

**HIGHJACK ALERT**
The Highjack alert was for my highjacking the thread to ask..

Adopted from a shelter or a dog that is destined for the shelter?
Would it matter the dog was adopted from a shelter or was destined to go to a shelter?
