Please send a vibe for Great Grandmother who lost her best friend to Lymphoma. If you can make a donation to the Greater Kansas City Humane Society to purchase a gurney. THey did not have one, and there was no one but me to get him into the clinic to cross the bridge. IT seriously hurt me. I had no business lifting him or carrying him in. THey are the only not for profit animal clinic here that I know of and have cared for Mr. Shaffer all of his life. THeir gurney broke and in his name and mine, I am on a mission to try to raise funds for the next dog of size that comes in. THey have a Gabrial fund for animals that come in injured that would otherwise have to be put down. THey have to have a gurney. A good one. http://hsgkc.org/

His lymphoma took a very bad turn for the worse and he was in great pain. I am so sorry Shaffer. YOu were a wonderful dog, in more ways than I could ever put into words. Thank you for not only caring for my elderly blind mother, but for the woman you took care of before her when Logan found you that had passed away in her 90's. There is no other dog like you in the whole wide world. I promised him I would make sure GG was not alone, and that I would take her a parakeet to help with her grief. He crossed gently. Thank goodness for that blessing. She broke her leg a year ago and had to stay at my brother's house for over 6 months while it healed just waiting to go home to her dog. Soon as she got there, this happened. :(:(:(:(:(
Life is so not fair.
pics coming.

He was a brother

and a lover

A proper member of our geriatric gang

a member of our family

most of important of all, he watched over my Mother. No one could have asked for a better companion. He was careful, intuitive, and wise. He never knocked her down, or pushed past her. He checked on her. I will always think of him as Abraham Lincoln for his slow, gentle, tall, way.

He loved her so.

He was one of our gang

He was a handsome hound

I visited Mom today. SHe is taking his leaving quite hard. I took her a parakeet after he had crossed the bridge. She is legally blind, she can't see it, I thought at least a cheerful voice might help. AT fisrt she was just take it out, but I asked if I could leave Luna there for 24 hours because I was so tired. I hope the bird would work some magic. The next day she said the bird could stay, but she never can tell what she is doing, only hear her, and that is so hard. I took her a little bottle of a good rum too to warm her bones and her heart. Another dog is out, she has recovered from a broken hip and knee. There is just too much risk. That leaves out a cat too. I didn't know what else to do. Luna is settling in, and she is a lovely little bird maybe with time they will make friends. Right now Gg just has a big sad and I am sorry.

She said today there will never be another like him. That is the truth.
