Two dogs have left this world in the last year that I treasured as much as I do my own. First Beckett, now Cappy.

Cappy was a pit/boxer/something mix from the University where his momma was in school to be a vet tech and his dad in school to be a vet. He got really lucky early in his life after an allergic reaction left his whole rear end paralyzed, because he met his new human momma. She doted on him night and day and even carted him around in a little red wagon. As time wore on, he learned how to walk again (but he always had a very odd gait). Three phrases yielded a happy bark from Cappy, "Where's your momma," "Wanna ride shotgun," and "Want chinese?!" He had a zest for life, and eyes for his momma, like no other dog could.

He's not been "healthy" since that episode as a puppy. Despite that, he was almost fifteen years.

He was the self-appointed greeter at the clinic where I worked and boy did he take his job seriously! :)

In his momma's eyes, he was perfect. So much so that as a joint gift for her and Cappy, I bought him a new leather collar and tag a couple years ago... his tag said "Mr. Perfect." Because he was. My heart aches so much for his momma today.

Run free like you've never been able to do Cappy! I bet your momma wishes she could kiss your big fat grey snout one more time, I sure wish I could.

His Mama sounds like a jewel. I am so glad that Cappy had her, and that she had him. Run free boy on your good strong legs now. Make the angels laugh and watch over your Mama.
