Sawyer surveys Chatfield State Park, our new favorite park. The dog park is HUGE, has multiple water sources...it just costs to get in.

"I haz Colorado stick!"

Sawyer's first experience with fetching sticks out of a river with an actual current and depth:

This Berner was the biggest lovebug, until I pointed the camera at her:
"You can't see meh!"

Another view of Chatfield:

We met up with Cheza/Lyra and Cheetah/Shippo at the Golden dog park a few days later. The *coolest* marked Aussie mix was there and I just couldn't stop taking pictures of him. This is technically known as "harlequin" and so far I've only seen it come out of Fairoaks lines:

"Yah, I am awesomeness."

This was his sibling, just as interestingly marked in the opposite way. They're apparently Aussie/BC mixes, so this gal got the pattern white from the BC side, because she had full hearing and sight. Rescues off of Craigslist from what the owner said:

Bailey was less than impressed:

"Danes are so much more interesting to look at."

"See, we're patchy multicolored too."

"I haz blue eyez!"

"Split face AND airplane ears. And attitude. Beat that."

"Screw the horses, look down here!"

Shippo was infatuated with Sawyer...

...who responded like this...

"Will you like me if I look you in the eye? Or just pretend to be a kangaroo?"

Swishy pants!

"HALP! Wolf iz gonna eatz me!"

The first wolf mix I've met that I believe to actually be a good part wolf.

She was hard to get good pictures of, because she was either headed over towards me for loving:

Or off playing with the Aussies:

Group greeting:

"Please don't let the wolfie eat me..."

"Keeping not-eated is tiring...but I feel so exposed..."

"Ahh, that's better."

"...yeah whatever. Just throw the ball again"

Those are great pictures... I didn't end up with so many motion ones and it makes me sad lol.

You can get a year long state park pass for Chatfield too, unless you've managed to find the secret way in.

I wont be able to go there with Lyra until we get her a hunting collar because it isn't fenced, but it's pretty darn close to you, so that's a good deal!

I'm still looking for the secret way...the Berner owner knew what I was talking about and tried to explain it better to me, I just can't find the turn from the highway. :( I'll probably end up with the year pass anyway, especially for lake access. Do you know if there's swimming there? Or just boating, etc.

I have no issue with driving up to Golden to see you and Lyra. :)

Great pictures! All of the dogs are beautiful, but I love that Aussie -- very nicely marked, and such deep, rich colour.

I'm pretty sure there's swimming at the main part of the reservoir, because I see people out there on tubes behind boats and stuff... I think anyway. If there is though, it's definitely gonna be a place where dogs aren't allowed in the water though.

Great photos. I love that little split face puppy. That coloring on the red merle was pretty cool looking.
