I'm house sitting for one of my managers at the moment. They have a cat and a few chooks. They let them all out in the afternoon's and put them away at night, cat sleeps in the garage.

The first 2 days I was here, I would put her int eh garage at night and during the day when I had to be out because I was working afternoon/night shifts and didn't want to have the hassle of trying to find her before work, so I'd just bring her int eh house with me for a few hours when I got home.

I had yesterday off so I let her and chickens out for a few hours in the afternoon, come 530pm, the chickens were ready for bed but I couldn't find the cat anywhere. I waited 5 hours for her to come back and still didn't see her. I searched for her thismorning and came by again this afternoon before work to look for her, leaving food out for her which hasn't been touched.

I didn't finish work till 10:30 tonight so didn't get over here till almost 11:30 (had to go home first and then walk over) and still no sign of her. Means its over 30 hours since I saw her yesterday.

Before they left they said she buggered off on the house sitter last time they left her, and I'm thinking she didn't enjoy her two days of garage isolation and doesn't want to be locked back up, but right now. I just want to know she's safe. I will have a huge search for her tomorow and if she still doesn't turn up, I think I will call her owner to tell him? Or would you wait.

Anyway, all our cats always knew their name, or at the very least they come running tot he sound of a box of cat food being shaken. I must have gone out 20 times last night, calling and shaking and nothing. I came back tonight with a can of tuna and I've put it outside in hope it will attract her back if she's around.

Given we have a cat that if we step outside and yell his name once, he comes running (better recall than the dogs msot of the time) I don't know what else to do, any ideas?

and... she's back. phew... I was just starting to look for photo's of her to make up some flyers for the neighbours.

Heard a meow outside, went out to check and there she is, sitting in the sun cleaning herself like she never left. She's got lots of cuddles and a big breakfast.

No idea where she went or what she was doing but glad she's back now.
