Sounds good to me! Looks like I'll be staying in Ames this summer too, so it'll be a bit easier for me to travel.

I might be able to make it if it is in Iowa. If it is planed way ahead of Time I should be able to get off of collage. Brenna is not aggressive.

Red, I think that would be a yes. Oh wait, would a certain Ms Rumour be there too? (Django has a thing for the tall red girls.)

Quite obviously, count me in Sizzle.

I'm thinking Iowa would be the best bet. I don't know if we can arrange a "private" dog park gathering though. Around here (central Iowa) there are two parks that I can think of - there's a HUGE one in Des Moines IA that you technically need a permit for. But, it's in an area where there are a lot of restaurants and doggie shopping places.

The other option is Ames, IA - it's a university town, so there are a lot of hotels. The Baymont suites in town are pet-welcoming I believe. The dog park here is a semi-private park, and no permits are required. It's small, but it can easily hold 20-30 dogs. It's basically a big fenced-in square but still nice. There are many unfenced trails and nature areas in the area as well (Peterson Pits, McCarthy Park, the Great Iowa Trail, etc.). In Ames, there are a few nice restaurants, including a FAMOUS place called Hickory Park that is designed for large, hungry parties!

PS - I will be making bandanas for all the dogs that come to the Midwest Meetup - I'm working on a design right now! they'll be snazzy, you won't want to miss them... :D I need votes for color though!

QUESTION - what month works best for everyone? Should this be planned for a weekday or a weekend? Any ideas/suggestions are welcome!

I do think we should have an offleash playtime as well as a leashed walk - that way, those of us with dogs that don't play well with others can still participate.

I vote for green for a color :) Not to Macho but not to Girly and would work for both gender's of dogs :) but not like a mint green or a hunter green.... NEON!!! haha or Neon Yellow :) Something that can be seen easily :)

ALSO, I would like to add that Hickory Park is the best restruant in the WORLD! (or at least in Iowa)

How about red for the bandanas?

I'm not sure on the month, I'll see what seems to be the most popular choice and start saving now.

I vote for June - everyone should be out of school, it won't be as hot as it would be in July or August.

Put in your votes, guys! I'd day the choices would be:

1. May (late May, due to school schedules)
2. June
3. July
4. August (early August)

Red might clash with Ilsa and Ronin. :p Though it would look smashing against blue merle.

I vote for, bah, whenever. May/June.

I know I'm already taking one trip at the end of May/early June and moving in early May...I think mid-late June might work better for me.

I bet if you get a good deep red it might not... :p Red would also look smashing against a certain black Lab I know...

I vote June too. As for bandanna colors......black and white goes with everything so no clashing for Joey! :D By June, I'll probably be down to just Joey. Roxie will be trying out her new home this summer.
