I love APBTs, but they are different. For me, they are not potato chip dogs. UNLESS I owned my own house and/or lived with some acreage. Reggin, I love him dearly, he is the highlight of my days, but he is enough for me to handle at this time and point in my life. I would be a fool to try and take on another, especially if they grow up anything like him.
Small dogs are so much more easier... chihuahuas. Compact little dogs who are low energy (compared to Reggin). Lap warmers who love to snuggle.

Laurelin, I know what you mean about most people hitting on a breed they love and swearing they'll always have at least one. I said that about Dobermans when I had Lyric. But now I've gotten more lazy and I've had a serious back injury that may well flare up at times in the future. So, a Doberman, as much as I adore the breed is probably not right for me anymore, like it was so right during the time I had Lyric. So, life styles and wants can definitely change. I'm pretty much sold on small dogs....maybe even a Poodle. That always crosses my mind too. But I have a special fondness for Chi's, their unusual antics...really, they are different in their movements when they play, what mundane things can really entertain them, the simple pleasures they get, undemanding personalities (mine at any rate) and their alertness....well, they really are different than a lot of dogs. And just so cotton pickin cute!

Chi are cute I mostly like the long coated, but most the ones I have met minus one where extremly nervious or fearfull (zero sociolised) 
I've had bad experience with a lot of small breed dogs as a kid. One chihuahua attacked me and my sister from its front yard, one shih tzu bit my finger, I once witnessed 3 boshon frises attack a mail man, etc.
People dont think their cute little harmless dog needs any training or socialization. You need to treat small dogs just like you would treat a larger dog. Small dogs CAN do damage.
And because of that, toy dogs get a bad name. Just like the pittie....

I have had two that were not though, LOL and I LOVE this breed and hope someday to get very involved in them, but that is at least 5 years away as I am too busy and have too full a house right now.

Not necessarily. It's not about 'amount of white' but rather how the white is inherited.
For example:
Double merle shelties:
This one is actually mostly colored.
Color headed white shelties:
Both mostly white but not double merle.
CHW does NOT have any health associations that double merle does, but they look very close.
