I am convinced that boys never grow up: their toys just get more expensive. My husband is a master auto technician, so you guessed it, his weakness is vehicles. His Chevy truck has a beautiful custom paint job, sound system, V8 six-liter engine, etc. I've never complained because he's been able to do everything for an insanely cheap price, mainly by doing mechanic work in trade for the equipment.

Well, he called me at work today to tell me "How much do you love me?" He bought a set of 22-inch custom wheels/rims for his truck! Granted, he got them for only $500, which is a steal for the set, but it's still $500! And we have taxes on the house due in January! And just last night, we had a long talk and decided to cut back on extras and pay more towards the house payment!

Why do they have to do stuff like this? GRR!!!
Im the same I am a car widow. Lee is into Classic mini's. He has had 6 since we've been going out. The first mini he spent £7000 ($12684) on, was constantly working on it because it leaked, was blowing, wouldnt start, etc. After it was on the road for about a year (finally finished) he rang me up (we wernt living together at the time) to say him and his dad has taken a chain saw to it and cut it up for scrap!!! He told me the bottom of the car was bowed, couldn't be fixed so they sawed it up. I almost cried.

The next 5 he didnt spend much on, then he bought a Tax exempt Austin Mini Cooper S off his dads mate for about £1500 ($2718) which i was told was a steal. But its sitting in my garage waiting to be fixed up, I have leather seats in my kitchen, dashboard in my attic, windscreen in my bedroom.......I am a car widow. And when he spends money on cars, I dont even get told.....no flowers or nothing. Men!

He's also a major gym freak, spends god knows how much on suppliments and other gym paraphanelia, and he will watch ANY sport on tv, ESPECIALLY football (UK Football he is an avid LIVERPOOL fan) snooker, cricket, darts, rugby, tennis, boxing, bmxing, formula one, rallying........the list is endless. And again, I get no consultation, he just takes the TV remote and turns over......

Men. Who needs em.

Thats actually my weakness, I spent too much on books. I dont think lee would know what a book was even if one got up and slapped him in the face! :)

I like books too, so I don't mind, lol. But I really don't buy much either, just dog stuff really. I must have bought 2 CDs 1 DVD and 20ish books this year, and that's it... No clothes, just a pair of shoes because my old pair of sandals was broken.

My ex, had this thing for cars. It was insane. And, when we were living together, he took advantage of our *double* (more like MY) income and bought like, this really expensive ferrari. And, I was saving up to go to HAWAII! Jeez! That car was like, 50,000 CANADIAN! ugh I was soooo friggin mad! Nearly told him to pack his bags on the spot. *Sigh*

BTW---- He freaked when I told him that some of the money was for our honeymoon. Turns out I didn't need it anymore...
Well, thats another story.

Poor you! I'd much rather have the car than a trip though. You can have a great time in a car more than once! Although I'd have gone for a Porsche instead of a Ferrari, or maybe a BWM M Coupe . . . I like being able to depend on my fun not to have a mechanical tantrum and leave me sitting on the side of the road

I did post today on here... Mentioned one of the 1000's of hobbies 'he' has was fish and how that phase was passing... How wrong was I? Had a call saying if we were going to the pet shop tonight (to buy all my new puppy stuff by the way! Rah!) he was going to get a new tank for work! Work, as in his office on his desk... Oh dear..!

Tsk!

LoL! Well, I'm a fish person too, so I can sympathize. I did eventually get rid of my three indoor tanks. But, come springtime, the above-ground koi pond is going in the courtyard. :D

Haha, funny story on that one. I just wanted a little barrel pond for a goldfish or two. My hubby goes "I hate goldfish! If you're getting outside fish, you're getting koi!" And he makes plans for the koi pond, all the while moaning and groaning about how hard I'm working him. I try to say that while I love koi, I'll be happy with just a goldfish, but he insists that "Oh, that means I won't hear the end of it until you get koi." I later found out from my mother-in-law that my hubby has always wanted koi. It's funny how that pass off things they want onto us!

My Dad doesn't like to spend money, but he does love cars. Gardening, too. He loves buying that kind of stuff. My Mom is the person who goes out and spends $120 on books, or shoes.

My boyfriend is car crazy, but I don't mind it because he would never spend more than he could afford.

Just to clarify...

1. I'm not a shoe shopper.
2. I'm not really any kind of shopper.
3. The jewelry on my finger is pretty inexpensive. I like understated jewelry. HE was the one who complained that I needed to pick something more expensive, or else people would think he was cheap/poor.
4. Hmmm...did someone say duck? I have a horrible weakness for Chinese roast duck. I guess I'm going to have to make some now!

Anyway, I have to admit that I couldn't get as mad at him as I would have liked. He came home last night with his new bumper cover, headlights, wheels and tano cover already on his truck. He looked like a kid who's just seen Santa Claus. It's hard to get mad when they're so happy. *sigh*
Lol gem, I am a shoe shopper (well now slippers since my back surgery have nerve damage and cant wear a shoe on my right foot) So my slipper collection has grown to 20 pair of slippers
I love to shop-dont matter for what, but definately love shopping for my house and am always changing my bathroom decor and bedrooms
I love jewelery and if hubby dont get it I do-He did buy me a tennis bracelet for valentines one yr and kids have bought me rings for mommas day
I cant get upset with hubby and his very large toy so if he wants to deck the halls so to speak then I am all for it, as long as he doesnt take away my cc's then I am the queen of the ball (mall) :)
