Meet Brandy! Can anyone answer my questions?

This is our new puppy Brandy. My husband decided it was time for a new puppy. (Rita died a little over a year ago). She is supposed to be yellow lab and "maybe" husky. Her original owners were said to be from Alaska, and I guess brought the puppy with them. We were told she is 2 months old, but from the way she acts and the sketchy information I got from the girl who rescued her, apparently from a "friend" who wasn't taking good care of Brandy, I think she is probably more like 3 months. She has been very spoiled by the lady who rescued her, but she is also very well behaved for such a young girl. She was apparently passed around a lot, even spent some time in a shelter somewhere. That ends here!! This will be her forever home. She is supposed to be microchipped. Can I find out anything about her from the microchip? I don't even know where it might be or how to read it. Could I possibly find the person that had the chip put in? Anyone that has any insight or thoughts on what she might be or how old she is , or any info on the microchip, or anything else helpful, I would love to hear from you!

Your vet should be able to scan for a microchip. You should be able to get the chip number when scanned and track the previous owners down then. There are different scanners for different chips so if your vet doesn't have the right kind, you may have to ask other vet clinics or the animal shelter if they can try scanning.

The vet or a shelter will scan the microchip - sometimes animal shelters or rescues chip the puppy with their info, though, in case they're ever dumped and the shelter wants them returned to them.

It could have her old owner's info on it, though

It's usually on the back of the neck, but it can migrate anywhere around the shoulders and elsewhere later on.

It feels like a grain of rice if you do feel it, but if you don't it doesn't mean that she doesn't have one.

Thanks everyone, I found out her birthday (she is 3 months old as we suspected) and the shelter that microchipped her and the person that originally adopted her. Why would someone adopt a puppy and then not want it? Anyway she's a really smart girl and is adjusting well, she even finally got Amber to play last night. Amber is such a big girl, at 95 pounds she doesn't quite know what to do with a little puppy, she is so careful and I watch them close. She figured out how to play running games with Brandy without knocking her down, and it's such fun!

Brady is really soooo cute and adorable. Probably the former owners have no other choice but to leave the dog. Cute or not, it would be very difficult for a dog lover to ditch a dog without a pressing reason.
