We put my parents' old GSD Max down this afternoon. He was 13 year and 4 months.

He's one of the two childhood dogs I grew up with. We got him when I was 10. He was a rascal of a puppy, grew up into a fine tracker in his prime, and in old age was gentle and kind with any dog. He loved belly rubs, FOOD!, and absolutely hated chicken noises

The last few years, but partiucularly the last 6 months, his mobility had really gone downhill. He was to the point where he could not rise unassisted, wouldn't eat much, couldn't walk more than a few steps, and most recently became completely incontinent. The last few days he's been in obvious pain despite being on Previcox and Gabapentin, and we made the decision to end his pain.

Goodbye old man. I'll miss you :(

Run free Max. Take all the love that you have been given and make heaven shine with it. I am very sorry for your loss.
