Oh Smkie, there are no words to express the sadness I feel for you, and the admiration for both you and Mary.
I have and always will have a special love for Mary, a dog I've never met but felt I knew so well through your pictures and wonderful stories.
I wish you knew Smkie, though I've not been around lately I've thought of you both so often and will be there with you in spirit as Mary takes her wings.
Dear sweet Mary, travel safe to your boy and run free in that beautiful place where pain is gone and love and joy abounds.
Smkie, I wish I could wrap my arms around you and take some of this away...I can only offer a distant hug and a prayer that you'll take comfort in the wonderful life that you gave to this very special girl.

I don't think i could do this without all of you. YOur words help in more ways than you will ever know. My son has come and we have had a little Mary party with treats. I have her photo books out and we have been telling Mary stories. Aaron has taken her for one last car ride and i bet he will get her a burger. Hyia is watching the clock much too close and I told her to stop that. I got the space heater out because Mary likes the space heater and i put a blanket in the dryer to get fluffy and warm. IT's a horrid sleety nasty day outside and I know that hurts her. I gave her a pain pill this morning. This house is awful. THe floors are icy. EVen if the mole hadn't arrived I couldn't have put her through another winter. We have taken many pictures of her and her loved ones together. Including Victor washing her ears and Pepper giving her a kiss.
Aaron just called he did want to know if she could have a burger. I said Yes but take the bun off of it. I do not know how long it is between when she eats something that triggers the pancreatic attack. WE sure don't want that. I think just the meat and cheese will be ok. Aaron took Hyia with him and I am glad about that too.
I was thinking when we walk in the woods it is Mary who wallks with me. It is almost like she has me on an invisible leash. IF i stop she goes no more than 20 ft before she turns around to see if I am ok and if I am coming. I filmed it a dozen times on our latest walks. You could see her getting exasperated with me because she knew I was teasing her. HOw she knew I stopped i do not know. SHE can't hear a thing, and she knew before she turned around. Victor and PEpper race off and have their own agendas coming back every5 minutes or so. SO who will wallk with me now? Who will wait for me and stay with me and share with her eyes all the goings on? I have held her for the last three days trying to soak her in. Now i have to let go. Hyia keeps saying she is not ready. I say "I know".

Whip cream was the right thing to do. SHe ate almost all of it, at one point I thought she might be done so I moved it and she looked around and my son said she's scared. So i gave it back and she licked it until she was gone. SHe didn't know he was a vet. SHe was only upset because we were upset. THat was why i wanted the best distraction ever. I looked up and there were tears in the vet's eyes. I thanked him so much for coming here and doing this for her. He was a very good and kind man.
