Unity my Chihuahua has been coming to work with me since she was a puppy..The old mail lady use to LOVE her and every time she came in Unity would bark and the mail lady use to throw her a treat for her to fetch...It was like a game they use to Play..

Unity would wait, and wait for her every morning..and the girl use to LOVE seeing her and Unity would always make her laugh..

Well for the past week we have a new Mail lady now...

You can TELL she is NOT a animal person...She comes STORMING in grabs / leaves mail and walks out not even saying Good Morning, and even saying Hi to Unity..

Today she does the same thing, but this time Unity was barking at her more...As she storms out she goes..

" That is ridiculous, I'm going to put in a complaint "

So my manager said thats ok..We will solve that..We will just put a mail box outside...

Don't get me wrong, I know she shouldn't be barking at people..but she didn't have to be so mean...

I agree, her attitude was uncalled for. But she is a mail lady, and mail people come across TONS of barking, aggressive dogs on a lot of their routes. Your chihuahua, to them, was just another dog barking at them.

All of the letter carriers here LOVE Xena. They dote on her and give her treats. When she hears the mail truck outside, she goes nuts and rings the potty bell. She just HAS to have her mailperson treat :) She does like the UPS guys treats better (they are Meaty Bone, not Ole Roy) :rofl1:

Now Marianne (the Walmart greeter) usually has beef jerky or some other tasty treat as well. She LOVES Marianne ;)

I agree with what Fluffy said. Many mail people get bit by barking dogs that owners say are friendly. To them, your dog is just another potential threat.

Here's my question. Where is unity when the mail person comes in.

Is she with you behind a desk or something(somewhere that she can't get to the mail person)?

If it's just a matter of being in a building with a dog barking for the whole 5 mintues it takes to drop the mail off.... that's a bit stupid.

If she's out where she is actually bothering the mail woman... then I can see her getting annoyed. Especially if she's not an animal person.

But I agree... that is a bit over the top.
