Okay, so I'm saving up for two things: A camera/equipment, and a puppy to take the pictures of. You know about the puppy, let's talk about the camera.

I currently use/have a 350D/rebel xt. Primarily because it is my sister's and one day she will spread her wings and fly away, but also because the previous owner, who gave it to use with several lenses for free, did not take good care of the lenses/the camera. I'm also looking to upgrade, and sticking with canon because I already have lenses I can use.

With that in mind: I definitely want the option to shoot video, I heavily favor taking action shots, and price is not really important to me. I want something to grow with skills-wise, where I won't want to upgrade to a new body for a long time. I'm also wondering if anyone can suggest a couple good lenses? I currently have a 28-200mm, and a couple others I don't really use as much so I can't tell you specs.

P.S. I just now saw the photography forum, sorry if this was supposed to go there.

Ahhhh, so scary. So, any tips & suggestions are appreciated. :rofl1:

I have an XT as well and I have learned sooooo much by using it. In your shoes, I'd start learning my way around the XT and then when you can buy, just get the newest prosumer Canon available. :)

I have used the xt for over a year and will continue to play with it. I'd like to get a new camera soon, i do have enough money available already. I want to definitely have it by summer, so i can lend it to my sister's summer job and get back some $$ through that. Thanks for the thoughts. Sorry for any mistakes, typing with a phone.

T4i might be a great option. I know it has video, and from what I've heard, it's a great little camera.

7D would also be good as well.

Lenses, I always, always recommend a 70-200mm. I have the f/4 version, but if you want to go all out you can get the f/2.8 version. It pretty much lives on my camera.

I recently got an 85mm and for the price (got it for $300 used), it's an awesome lens as well.
