Seriously? Because last night I was browsing around and came across a TON of Poms and Chis in my area, and I'm in KS.

It usually helps if you widen your search criteria a bit. I leave age and sex at "all" because people judge ages differently. One of those that I just listed is a one year old listed as an adult. That's still pretty young, really.

:yikes: Run far away from this breeder.

While it is always good to check references for breeders, you can tell if it is a good breeder by knowing what to look for and what questions to ask. That is why I supplied the link previously. If you read it, you would be able to look at that site and know it's a horrible breeder.

I saw Pagoda and she is a doll! Looking at these puppies make me realise that I don't need a purebred.. I'm not showing or breeding just a companion.. Luckily there are alot of rescue and shelters around here. Next weekend hopefully I'll be able to go over to the MSPCA and look at the puppies :)

I'm so glad you decided to adopt/rescue! Keep us updated with your adoption progress. I live in MA too we got our dog from a rescue though, and he was a shar-pei mix anyway so I could not have been much help with a breeder.

Sorry I was four, I don't remember:D my parents don't either, we picked him up from a foster home somewhere in Brockton I believe, sorry i don't remember  My parents think it was just called Shar-Pei rescue but I can't find anything that simply goes by that name. Of course it was 11 years ago so it might not even be around any more.

I think you're making a great choice to adopt! :)
Yes, that breeder you were looking at has many, many huge red flags. Glad you chose to get away from there fast.

I think the last two might be better...the Pom is going to be more difficult since it's lacked it's mother from 5 days old. There are going to be some behavior things arising from that.

The chi/rattie will be cute, as will the pug/silky.

Issues with bite inhibition for starters, higher levels of sep. anxiety probably (those with more experience can tell you better than I), a harder time comprehending the idea of "no" since mom hasn't been around to teach it. It'll probably be a velcro dog extreme, which might be nice for you. I don't know you well enough to say.

But most of the dogs I've met that have been handraised or taken from mum too early have some form of aggression.
